Fantastic view from the balcony to the marina. Good breakfast and very good dinner at the Taberna restaurant. Fantastic hotel with the location. Cascais is a very nice place. Perfect for quiet vacation. We loved the sea food.
The setting, layout and features of this hotel were all incredible. Situated overlooking the ocean, the hotel is just a short leisurely walk along the water to everything Cascais has to offer. High marks for the breakfast buffet too!
I went there with my mum to relax after holidays and before I return to UK, we had the most amazing massage, Ana Catarina was the perfect host and a true professional with a big smile all the time and my mum love her as a massage therapist, I had Vicky that was very polite and with a magic touch. Definitely to return 😊…
We finished up a great trip with our kids that included four nights at the Pestana Cidadela Cascais. It’s hard to find many luxury hotels in Portugal that sleep four to a room, but this Pestana property has junior suites with a separate area for two twins that worked perfectly vs. jamming everyone together within sight. Location is perfect - right near the historic center of Cascais, but just enough removed from the late nite crowds and noise. There are dozens of excellent restaurants and tons of shops within easy walking distance, even with kids. The train to Lisbon is a 10 minute walk away, and you’re a twenty minute drive to beautiful Sintra. As for the hotel itself, lots of pluses and a few minuses. Pluses - Modern hotel amenities well-incorporated into historic citadel - Interesting onsite art exhibits; beautiful garden sculptures - Great beds; large rooms - two pools - one indoor one outdoor (both small but functional) - breakfast buffet included (at least for us) with more than the usual number of choices in European hotels - Welcoming knowledgeable staff Minuses - biggest one for us; our room had a strange odor that recurred several times; we weren’t sure if it was due to cleaning products, prior occupants, etc. We used some spray to dissipate; not a deal breaker, but not five star - odd area below lobby with a small lifeless bar and furniture better suited to a mid-tier convention facility - Gym is tiny with no more than one of anything... not a big deal when you can run outside and take in the scenery, but weather does not always permit - Since the hotel is built around the contours of the fort, some rooms can be a bit choppy in layout Tip Rent bikes from the marina (accessible via back entrance of hotel) which also have kids bikes and ride out to Guincho Beach which is an 18km round trip. Overall, this is a great option if you want to stay in a historic property with modern amenities in a perfect central location. Having stayed at the Pestana Vintage in Porto, this property just doesn’t quite stack up to that 5 star level. …
Lovely hotel in great area of Cascais. Calm and friendly place and fantastic breakfast. Staff were helpful. Easy walk into the historic centre. The restaurant on the place was also v nice. Just missing tea and coffee making facilities in the room
