Casa Pombal is located in an incredible spot on a high hill very close to Coimbra University! We stayed in the bedroom on the top floor and had the most wonderful view of old city Coimbra. It is an old house with narrow creaky stairs which gives it a lot of character. The decorations are charming and quirky. Comfortable and...

This guest house is walking distance to most of the attractions/restaurants in Coimbra. The hosts are charming and will go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms are small but well equipped and breakfast is light but more than adequate. It is recommended that you bring only small bags as the guest house doesn't have...

Location was very good, being within a few blocks of Castro Museum and Coimbra University library and chapel. Nice, simple beakfast included with room, which was no frills, small, and clean. No elevator. Hhostesses were very helpful about sites they recommended, and provided map. We parked at a public garage and took a taxi to the guesthouse because parking was...

I give this a 4 not 5 because it's pretty basic; shared wc and shower small basic rooms. But if you care about location (in this town you should) is ideal, and the little terrace is delightful, as are the hosts! Breakage is nice to. Good value.

A lovely quirky place, in a very central position. Positives: 1) The reception by the host; provided friendly, informative information about the local attractions and the Guesthouse, without being overbearing or ingratiating. 2) The little terrace, where you can have a quiet drink while looking over the roof tops. (No Smoking) 3) The room itself; it wasn't big but more...

Before IKEA, before Air B&B, before cookie-cutter hotels there was and is Casa Pombal. What a great stay we had here with the helpful, thoughtful staff. Our room(up a few stairs #8) had the best ever view from the bathtub/shower. In the morning a breakfast we learned to look forward to, and best of all........the suggestions from the staff each...

I stayed here for one night when cycling the Portuguese Camino. I was greeted by the wonderfully friendly proprietor, who helped me store my bike and then insisted I recover from the long ride before fully checking in (I had been biking all day in absolutely crushing heat - the welcome was just what I needed!). The room was small...

Happened to find this place on a last minute visit to Caimbra. It was perfect. Great location at the top of the hill. The ladies who run it are extremely sweet and helpful. Great breakfast in the morning is included. Although we did share a bathroom, we never had an issue with needing it and it being occupied. Not fancy,...

I visited Coimbra for a conference held at the University. Casa Pombal was very close and convenient, and a really lovely place to stay, right in the heart of the old city in narrow winding streets. If you like modern hotels and lots of space, this is not the place for you. But if you like really getting a feel...

Casa Pombal isn't fancy, but it is quaint. Our room was up several steep flights of stairs. We don't mind but some might. We had two single beds pushed together; quite comfortable actually. You couldn't get a bigger bed up there. Small room, good bedside lighting, small bathroom with decent shower. The ac isn't great but we were comfortable with...
