Hotel is easy walking distance from the train station and the main street with lots of restaurants and cafes is just around the corner. Our room was comfortable, we had 2 single beds. Plenty of storage space throughout. Included a small enclosed balcony. We face the main street so there was a little bit of traffic noise and light shining...

Stayed at the Astoria hotel, which has an old world charm with a modern approach, clean room and good Breakfast. Recommended I will certainly be going back. Close to the city centre (very) good views of the Mondego river close to restaurants and bars

Stayed in Astoria when visiting Coimbra for 2 days. Located at the edge of the Old Town, Main shopping street starts around the corner, restaurants at one / two minute walk. Covered car park is available at 200 meters at €15,- / 24 hrs (Avenida Fernao Magelhaes). Hotel is about 100 years old, partly modernized. Still there are cracking floors,...

First off let me say that I enjoyed my stay in the Hotel Astoria, the breakfast was good the rooms were spacious and the location was just perfect. Having said that I have to warn you it is like stepping back in time. It's not a quaint hotel made to look old. It actually is a like walking into a...

Spent five nights at this beautiful hotel. I read lots of reviews before staying and would say that if you want clean modern sleek lines in your hotel choice, this is not for you; however if you want beauty, charm and an elegance in your hotel, this is for you. Original furniture, wonderful colours. My room was on the 4th...

This was my third time in Coimbra. I was glad that I'd chosen the Astoria to stay. The location of the hotel is central, next to the river and a couple minutes' walk to the train station. But most special is the charm exuded. The outside look is not deceiving, once you step inside you're transformed back in time. The...

Nice hotel with perfect location. Frozen in time, which creates an atmosphere to the traveller, however at the price of little convenience in the rooms. The view (4th floor room overlooking the University hill) is fantastic. Breakfast was good, but no vegetables present. The service is also good and friendly. The best location in the city.

I spent 3 days and enjoyed very much the professionalism and kindness of the staff. The rooms are clean, the breakfast room is large and comfortable and there is a large room for discussions, etc. As many others, I fed up staying at modern hotels having no character and often small rooms. At the Astoria, I was pleased to stay...

So beautiful, you could live there forever. Amazingly charming, with fully functional facilities and the fittings of a bygone era - for e.g., a library in the hotel, with a piano.. Room was comfortable, had a real balcony with windows that open (wow), fabulous views of the river, and the bridges. Fabulous buffet breakfast The service was truly great. Ricardo...

This was once the best hotel in Coimbra, nowadays it is in need of renovations. Still, it keeps a lot of the old charm, having old-style furniture with inlays and the breakfast room with crafted wood paneling. Some rooms have views of the Mondego river.
