This was a very nice surprise! The room was very spacious and comfortable and the lobby very attractive. The front staff was very friendly and helpful as well. We had an ocean view with a small balcony and were able to open the door and enjoy the breeze. The room was modern and everything worked perfectly. They had a very nice breakfast buffet but the dinner buffet was very overpriced and just okay. There was limited outside parking right in front of the hotel, but ample space in an underneath garage that was free. Overall, a very nice option for a stay.
This hotel was fine but very different from hotels in the U.S. We missed being able to make hot water in the room & we missed an ice machine. :-(. Otherwise, no complaints - and those aren't really complaints either because I know it's not the U.S. and I shouldn't expect the same exact service. Wish they would give 2 keys though!
The flight from Boston SATA air was very nice. I wish we had been told that there would be a 7 hour wait to get our assigned room at the hotel. The 4hr flight left Boston @ 10:20pm and after they served dinner we had just 2hr to rest of uninterrupted flight time and it was 6:45am when we arrived very tired. We elected to pay for transportation from Azores airport to our hotel (bus was great) and the written instruction said staff would meet us with our name or Azores getaway...but after waiting about 20” we discovered the bus was outside. At the hotel there was no place to sit or rest and we were exhausted. So, heads up if you choose this hotel.
The good.. the breakfast buffet, it really was good! The bad.. we ended up with a poorly located room off the main lobby. It was noisy at night, tough to get a good nights sleep. It was just bad luck for us as the hotel was full and did not have any alternatives for us. If you can, upgrade to an oceanview room. Front desk staff are very helpful, the island is amazing!
As part of a vacation package booking, one expects somewhat Spartan rooms, but this is taken to extreme. We needed one extra room, so booked that separately on a hotel site, and elected for one of the top-floor rooms -- vast contrast with those in the package, which were very small and looked out onto a blank wall. The worst issue was the hot water, which was truly dangerous (well above scalding), meaning very little water volume with the temp selector almost to Cold and taking extreme care to avoid bumping into the control. Our room (the top-floor one) had lots of space as the sleeping loft was on a second level accessed by an open staircase, and full bath upstairs plus 3/4 bath below. We would have rated this better except for the hot water issue. Breakfast (included) was ok; the bar quality varied between good and bad, as one of the bartenders (solo duty) had no experience and had to refer to their instruction manual to make drinks on the menu, and food service here was very slow. The outdoor pool looks nice but is unheated; there is an indoor one but it takes a lot of persistence to find it (subterranean), which was ok.…
