Detailed Reviews
I've been at the Lighthouse for 9 days on a solo surfing trip. The place is sparkling clean, with very comfortable beds and plenty of facilities, like the pool or the little bar to have a chilled drink at night after a surfing day. The owners Milva and Jesus, same as the staff and volunteers make such a lovely crew always keen to help you with a smile. I've been feeling like at my own home and I've had one of my best holidays ever. The place gets packed with surfers and you end up going surfing and having dinner with people you just met the day before in such a great atmosphere. Despite having lots of places on my list to travel to I cannot wait to come back there.

Thank you for having us, we really enjoyed our stay!! We had a warm welcome trough Lucie. Followed by great nights at the bar with Juan & Alex. Both of the owners were really helpful with everything you could possibly need. It’s a cozy place with hammocks, rooftop and anything you need for a relaxed holidays. I would recommend a car to explore the surroundings, but you could also go by bike, which you can hire there as well. Much love for the good days we had there with you guys!!

Amazing hostel in Sagres! The staff was very welcoming and so helpful 24/7. The whole accommodation is very clean and we felt very comfortable during our whole stay. They also have little chill areas with a table soccer, ping pong table, hammocks, riff top terrace and a nice pool.
In addition to that they offer you to wash you clothes, rent bikes, surfing equipment etc for only a small amount of money. We would recommend this place to everyone who loves to meet new people, chill out and go surfing. Thanks for everything!

Wowww what a experience. The house is like a family summer house but with people from all over the world. The pool is beautiful and even in winter you can try a jump, because the weather is great (f a w). They staff who are from every where are great, especially Diego, Milva, Olivia, Yolanda, Daniela, Austrian Girl. If you follow the hostel on Instagram you get a free Drink 🍻. The beds are very Conf and the whole hostel very well maintained. Only 15 mim walking distance from the Beachs🏄

This hostel is located in a quiet area in Sagres. If you have a car, you can park for free.
The hostel is made of two different areas: the main building, which includes the reception , a garden and a pool, and a secondary building, named Bloc B, which was where I stayed.
I stayed in a mixed 4 bed dormitory. Each bed has:
-A reading light;
-One usb port to charge your device;
-A curtain for further privacy.
I had a good sleep, as everybody was quiet at night.
The Bloc B includes a large common bathroom, a kitchen and a living room.
The only thing I would improve concerns safety. Unlike the main building, where you need an access code to enter, the gate to Bloc B is always, even at night I think, so potentially anybody could enter the place. I understand Sagres is a really quiet and safe place, but at least an access code could be set up also for entering the o
Bloc B.
Apart from that I would definitely recommend this hostel.

A great accommodation concept. A chalet rebuilt into a hostel. The twin room we had was great, very quiet. The common areas with the pool, barbecue, ping pong, table football... made you want to never leave there. We will be back.

Easily the best hostel in Southern Portugal. Chilled vibes, beautiful poolside area and bar, fireplace in common room for colder nights & super friendly cool staff. We were planning our next visit already the day we left ❤️🤙
Tip: cute double rooms for couples and self-contained bungalows for groups of mates too. So not just a pure hostel :)

We originally booked for 3 day here but ended up staying 2 weeks which i think is a trend at the funky monkey as no one wants to leave. Due to great people, good facilities and an amazing surrounding this is defiantly a place you want to check out in sagres.

We stayed at Funky Monkey a couple weeks ago during our trip to the Algarve and it was the best hostel we have been to in Portugal. The hostel is pretty new and Borja and Jesus, the owners, were absolutely welcoming. If you are a more experienced surfer, this is absolutely the place to be and even if you are a beginner, they tell you the best spots to surf.
The hostel has a large outdoor area with a roof top terrace, a pool, bbq and lots of space to hang out. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need.
You should definitely not miss out on Sagres on a trip to the Algarve as the beaches surrounding it are amazing. Funky Monkey is a cool place to stay with awesome people and a great atmosphere.
Will definitely go there again!
