It was an excellent stay. We advise the room with sea view. Nothing is more pleasant than waking up and being able to look at the sea. Sharing breakfast with an incredible landscape that fills our hearts even more.

Large apartment with nice furnishings. The kitchen was well equipped. The complex was very clean and well maintained and is in a quiet location. You can start hiking directly from the town; the coast in this area is spectacular. We had a good time.

We stayed here for 4 nights in early October. The apartment was very clean, spacious and well equipped with everything you could need to self cater. It had a nice pool area with plenty of sun beds. It is located a short walk from the Sagres town which has plenty of places to eat. Would definitely stay her again if we return to the area.

From welcome to last day, flawless and highly recommended!! We loved the location, the attention, the people. The location in Sagres allows you to know the nearby beaches that are beautiful.
We'll be back for sure, I recommend it in closed eyes.

We ended up in Sagres by accident and fell in love with it, locating these great apartments on day 2. The people who run them are brilliant (with excellent English) and the situation puts you within walking distance of 3 magnificent beaches.
Sagres is a very quiet town, which is what we like. The partment we has was superbly equipped and well cared-for.

I have traveled to Sagres on several occasions going back as far as 2001. My overall experience has always been a positive one in regards to the town in general, restaurants and other hotels. Over the years I had always wanted to stay at Pontalaia. I finally did so... what a letdown. I am only going to speak of the service, or better said, lack thereof. When we arrived at the time we had agreed (8:30pm) to meet with a member of the staff, there was one there. We had to call someone and it took them 10 minutes to arrive. The staff member promptly ran inside, grabbed a key card and showed us to our room. That would have been fine except that it was not the room we had agreed upon in our telephone reservation. When we asked the staff member about the other room she said she knew nothing about it and said we could take it or leave it as she had to get back to whatever it is she was doing somewhere in town. The hotel was at about 30% capacity and there were plenty of other rooms. Basically her attitude was that she was doing my wife and I a favor by letting stay there, and she could not be bothered to find us another room. We decided to stay only because we were hungry and had just spent 5 hours on the road. The next morning it was even worse. The hotel was nearly empty. It was 11:00 AM on a Sunday. I went down stairs and asked if they could allow us a courtesy late check out of 3pm. I offered to pay a fine, penalty and even a half day's rate if allowed the late checkout. To summarize the experience, the woman at the reception desk not only told me there was nothing she was willing to do, she asked me to take care of the check out paperwork immediately as her shift ended at noon and she could not be held up. Check out time is at noon. I live in Europe and travel up to 20 times a year. The attitude these employees have is by far the most condescending I have experienced. Great attitude to have during an economic crisis. It makes me wonder what is the true intent of this establishment.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere. You will find much better Customer service. Sagres is a great place, just not...

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was inside our room at pontalaia, especially for what we paid - 95 euro or something. The place was spotless, really nice. And it was huge. Nice couch, dining room table with four chairs, nice kitchen (nicer than at my house), huge bathroom (although the stylish lack of shower curtain meant a sure wet floor ... however, the heater in the bathroom was great), cool photos of Sagres sights on the walls. We felt we got a bargain for this place.
The beds were a little stiff but that seems to be the norm in portugal. Extra pillows were in the closet, along with bathrobes. Nice shampoos and stuff, according to my wife.
Parking was easy, lots of free parking. Location was great - right next to the pousadas which was much more expensive (although the view there seemed to be better, it's an older place I think)
We had booked a sea view room and although we could see the sea, it wasn't really like we were overlooking a cliff or anything (more of a pool view). But the town and surrounding area is so spectacular that you would be on overload anyway with a view 24/7.
We only stayed one night but could have stayed much longer. We're already talking about going back once I learn how to surf. The town is very small and a bit sleepy, but perfect for a relaxing getaway after we spent time in the more touristy section of the algarve (praia da roche). It's very windy in this town, which makes it less of a beach destination than some other areas of the algarve. That was fine with us! If only I could surf, we'd be in heaven.
Make sure you drive out to the tip of the lighthouse, and spend time exploring the cliffs along the way (Carefully!). Spectacular views!
The restaurant at the hotel was really great, was a perfect meal for our 1st wedding anniversary! It was the fanciest restaurant we ate at our whole trip. And I believe it was the nicest in town. (Just make sure you tell them you're staying at the hotel b/c I think you get a discount... we didn't know that and missed out!)
The only bad part was that we had to book through email (I hate sending my credit card info via email). Would have been nice to have secure booking online through their website or through a third party.

Extremely friendly and attentive front desk person (Maria) made us feel welcome even before we arrived by taking great care of our bedding arrangements for a family of 2+2. Big and clean one bedroom apartment with your own espresso machine! Good sauna and gym nice extras. Central location and overall great value for the price.

This is our second time staying at the Pontalaia, as the first time, we a had clean and comfortable apartment. Had all the equipment needed for self catering, we only used the kettle, and the toaster Sagres has plenty restaurants, bars and cafes, at a walkable distance,to spoil your taste buds. We had the pool view lovely getting up in the morning sitting on the terrace having your coffee. The wifi was good . And the staff were friendly and professional. There will be a third time visit to the Pontalaia from us.

Great 2 weeks, very clean and really friendly! Really quiet area and good sea views. April the pool is cold so take a wet suit for the kids! We are surfers with 1 child so central to all the beaches. Go to Terra and Carlos restaurant for traditional food and Dromaderios in town for good Crepes, salads, burgers and late drinking! 😎😎
