When I went there was karaoke on Monday and a really good quiz with prizes on a Friday.... always lively around the bar each night but no real entertainment as such, it's a pretty chilled place and what I was expecting so don't expect shows each night, please don't let that put you off though, I've been placed with dreadful entertainment and been really annoyed, the days are heaven and a fantastic resort, make the most of the few nights entertainment but if you need more then head out to the old town....also you can order Indian takeaway from mr Singh's who will meet you at reception

I took the shuttle bus which was fine as I was travelling alone but I was literally the last drop and it's a fair distance from the airport, I did notice that most of the return pick ups where like 6 seater cabs myself included and I was at the airport much quicker than on arrival.... I'm going back in may and have booked a private cab just for the ease of things and the price is excellent compared to waiting for buses especially so it would probably be better for you as a family with kids. I've booked with zip transfers
As for the complex itself, it is pretty remote but that doesn't mean your out in the sticks, there is a lovely cafe/restaurant attatched to the side of the hotel... great food and prices.
Supermarket is literally 5 minutes away and will have everything you need at decent prices... at the hotel itself it's pretty laid back, there is a small kids play area and toddler pool but kids will be kids and make friends and entertain themselves so I wouldn't worry, the beach is literally a 15 minute walk... just head for the supermarket and head right through the trees on the path... once you hit the main road turn right and cross over, you will see a massive modern villa.... walk down the side of the villa and you will reach the beach..... once your on the beach you can either go left and see all the amazing rock formations and relax or maybe next time you go turn right and you will have the beaches plus the nature reserve that sits behind the beach... lots of lovely little cafes and seafood restaurants on the beach but check the prices first.
There are a few decent restaurants around the hotel but around 15/20 minutes walk, which doesn't bother me on holiday... literally walk out of the hotel and turn left and follow the road round...prima pasta is amazing and the portions are incredible for the price.... I'm a big eater but had them box it up for me to take back to the apartment. Hope this helps, any more questions please ask... like I said it is a little out of the way but it has a fantastic supermarket close by, a lovely cafe that serves food all day, the hotel serves snacks all day and very well priced, they also run a minibus into albufiera for €3 every day. It's just a lovely little place away from the hustle and bustle but not too far that you can't arrange to go out and explore.... I hope you enjoy it as much as I did..... I'm already booked and paid to go in May for my birthday :)
