Detailed Reviews
Booked this at a very good rate at short notice on booking website, but was somewhat surprised at the standard rate (three times what I payed) displayed at reception. According to the receptionist, the building was originally a cork processing factory and then a bakery for the army, but you would never have guessed it. Room was very nice but I had to report a couple of defects in the bathroom (I seem to find this in most of the few hotels I stay in - the cleaning staff must go around with their eyes closed!). Only used the dining room for one breakfast, which was very nice and included hot food.
On-site parking, a swimming pool (not used in March!) and a nice garden to relax in. All staff encountered were very pleasant.

Many thanks for sharing your experience at our boutique hotel. Pateo dos Solares is truly a historical site, staying here is being part of that history. It is also a good starting point to discover Estremoz, which we hope you have good memories of it. We also appreciate your recommendations for improvement which we will consider and share with the team. Hoping to welcome you once again at Aletenjo, we wish you all the best!

Had another great experience at Hotel Páteo dos Solares. The room was very spacious, impeccably clean, and the well-maintained gardens and inviting pool were delightful.
I want to highlight the hotel's convenient location, a short 5-minute walk from the center of Estremoz, making it easy to explore the town's charm and local culture.
Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a magical experience visiting Evora. Staying at Pateo dos Solares Charm Hotel made it even better. Luis Silva, the host, made us feel so welcome when we arrived after a long day of traveling. He even helped us park our car! He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We had dinner and drinks at their restaurant and everything was delicious. Breakfast was also very well done with many homemade delicious choices. The hotel and grounds were gorgeous and really helped to make us feel like we were in a very special place. We would 100% recommend this authentic and welcoming hotel and restaurant.

The hotel itself is comfortable and rooms fine. The food however was absolutely appalling . We had read poor reviews regarding the restaurant but as it was Easter weekend and everywhere closed we had no choice. There was one member of staff working in both the bar and restaurant so service was incredibly slow . He was later joined by the man from reception who was surly and rude . I asked ( not unreasonably ) if the crisps that were served with the lamb could be replaced - this apparently was too big an ask. The lamb was over cooked and resembled a lump of leather , the so called herb crust was a lump of congealed green on the side and quite frankly inedible . When sent back we asked for it to be removed from the bill- it was but with a total lack of grace or apology. Lovely setting but grumpy staff member and avoid restaurant - truly awful .

First of all, there is a HUGE difference between the photos posted and the actual rooms (my room did not look anything like the ones in the pictures).
Inside the room: he furniture was skimpy and old, the bathroom hasn't been refurbished for ages and there were almost no amenities (just a solid soap + a small bottle of some sort of syrup which did not clean anything). The closets were full of dust and mites.
Outside of the room: the carpets were absolutely filthy. The outside patio is only being used for the pictures posted on the website. The metal tables thereof are left dirty and are never used for serving breakfast (breakfast is served inside, in a closed room).
Breakfast: only industrial, low quality products. The worst coffee I have ever tasted.
Swimming pool: it is much too small for the number of people present. The whole village is using it (it is understandable, given the hot summer weather, but unfair for the paying customers of the hotel). I did not get to use it at all, I gave priority to the village kids who were enjoying it.
Location: the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There is one castle to visit (if you find it open) and that's about it. No activities, no attractions, no culture, no shops.
Staff: only one person at the reception spoke other languages than Portuguese (and she was not present all the time). It is complicated (impossible) for foreign clients to ask for anything.
Conclusion: the quality/price ratio is one of the worst I have ever experienced.
I understand that it is a rural structure and it's complicated to manage it properly, but in that case the (unrealistic) price should reflect this.
The place needs a serious make-over in order to be brought closer to the (completely fake) image projected on its website.

We spent a long weekend at Pateo dos Solares, a very hot weekend with temperatures around 38 degrees C., so the focus point was the very nice pool, with a very nice garden surrounding. It felt great.
The room was good, comfortable and quiet, althiugh the bathroom could benefit from getting some more modern amenities.
Good sleep quality beds too.
The breakfast buffet was also very good, offering a wide variety of choices, The room is probably slightly smaller than it should.
Overall we really enjoyed the stay at Pateo dos Solares and would probably go back next time we go to Estremoz

Visited the hotel during COVID-19, and felt very safe. Staff very friendly and helpful, and did everything they could to be welcoming despite the Covid challenges.
Superior room was comfortable and a reasonable size. Hotel restaurant and bar has a great outdoor space.
Restaurant menu was varied and the food was excellent. The mixture of deserts was definitely the best decision for sobremesa.. a taste of everything on the menu.
Estremoz is a pretty town, easy to walk from the hotel. The old jail up on the hill has a bar and terrace with views of the town and is recommended.

I have got rather lazy at reviewing and haven't done it for a little while but felt the experience here warranted it, so the owner is aware of what is going on potentially without their knowledge.
I have recently spent from the 4th May to 12th in Portugal, this was a family trip to take my retired mother (and father) back to her homeland for the first time in many years.
In total 5 of us travelled together as a family.
After a fantastic few days in Lisbon, on the 7th May we headed to the Alentejo my mother's region. We picked Estremoz for its central location and ease of commute to all the destinations we wanted to visit.
Picking the hotel was easy, it looked lovely from the pictures - great setting and pool for relaxing by in the afternoons was a definite plus.
All was going well, until we arrived.
We arrived at 12/12.30 lunchtime - fully aware that checkin was at 3pm or later. We did not want to checkin at this point, we wanted to simply leave our bags, we were going to explore the town and have lunch somewhere.
We were met with the most HOSTILE experience I have ever had in Portugal!
The receptionist on duty (Maria/ Mariana (or something like this - she did not identify herself) - glasses/ blonde and surly attitude) was the rudest I have ever encountered she radiated anger, rolling her eyes, folding her arms, quite frankly very inconvenienced that we were there at all.
You could cut the atmosphere with a knife.
A hotel of this calibre anywhere in the world is and should be accustomed to people arriving early and simply wanting to leave their bags. Airlines and travel plans do not always synch with Hotel check in times and that is why when travelling, we opt for good hotels where this won't be a problem.
We could not have been made to feel less welcome or more of an imposition.
This could have been handled so differently, a smile and "I am sorry but your check in is at 3.30pm, however we have a great restaurant and a lovely pool, feel free to relax and we will be with you as soon as possible".
No instead we got ATTITUDE, rolling eyes, surly talking, mocking english "have a nice day" even though my mother is fluent in Portuguese and was communicating in Portuguese.
We ended up walking into town and finding a lovely restaurant called Gadahna to have lunch in, instead of the hotel (lost revenue), we ended up touring the town and having drinks at the Pousada run by Pestana Hotels at the top of the town (lost revenue).
When we returned way after 4pm her attitude had not improved and it did not improve at any subsequent interaction during our stay!
This receptionist - needs a major attitude intervention to prevent further harm to the business.
The hotel is lovely, the other staff members Maria Luisa in particular in the restaurant at breakfast were lovely, the drinks chaps by the pool really nice, the rooms were comfortable and large (we had garden patio rooms).
We didn't use the public areas in the main building because having that ominous presence radiating hatred towards the guests was not conducive to a pleasant afternoon/ evening.
My parents did have lunch there once by the pool and raved about the food.
I have given this place 4 stars because the property and facilities should not be adversely affected by the awful nature and upbringing of one person but it was not a great experience in my mind.
If I do come to Estremoz again, I will stay at the Pousada where we had meals and drinks and were made to feel incredibly welcome.
Anyone reading this review can go back through my past reviews and see I try to be fair and considered, it's never my intention to harm anyones business or reputation but the business needs to know they have someone working there who is not a team player.
Luckily, this was the only rude person we encountered during our whole trip!
Good riddance to The Malcriada of Estremoz may our paths never cross again!

Nice ambience in hotel.
Lovely building, nice lounge, and comfortable restaurant.
Comfortable bed.
Carpet in bedroom and upstairs hallway is very dirty.
Restaurant food average and overpriced. Dishes not exactly as described on the menu. Small portions. No prices for desert menu and not informed of prices unless asked for. Charged for couvert even though it was not asked for or touched on table. Breakfast poor.
Shower not great.
Over all, we feel that the hotel is overpriced.
Check bill before paying, especially for small items.

Great hotel, great location,
Great value, great base to discover Estremoz.
Reception checkin - underwhelming. Guy finished smoking his cigarette by front door and followed us in.
We had booked a superior room on 2nd floor with view up quaint street towards the town. Super size, clean, very comfy bed.
No mirror in the room -
Bathroom very nice but shower over bath with sloping back to bath making it very slippy to get out. No bath mat in bath, bath towels were small and well used, bathrobes beautiful for small people of about 5” and Suze 12 max! My hubby is 6”4” and I’m curvy! I rang reception for larger bathrobes to be told they only do 1 size!
The hairdryer was the usual hotel style keep button pressed in, attached to the wall. No make up mirror or shaving mirror.
Toiletries were not of a quality one would expect for a spa hotel superior room, the shampoo didn’t even lather.
Breakfast ok but uninspired, hot good was cold, coffee in urn must be instant, like warm and disappointing.
The hotel was huge potential with an eye casting over it as to what touches would improve -‘big fluffy bath sheets for one.
Disappointed
