We thought we knew most exceptional small design boutique hotels in Portugal, but somehow missed this one that for me ranks in the top 3. A truly fascinating renovated small monastery that blends beautiful antique furniture with exquisite design pieces. The rooms are meticulously clean and comfortable, high end design details everywhere, the public rooms are like living in your own antique palace mixed with beautiful modern design elements. They have a terrace with a view on the old city. There is a small garden with a lovely pool and deck chairs to relax in. We visited the separate 2 bedroom apartment they have which is an amazing 2 floor apartment in what used to be the stables. The breakfast, served with wonderful china, was delicious. Special note on the young manager Pedro who was excellent, taking care of us at all time. If you are in the area, don’t think twice as where to stay. This is a unique experience to fully enjoy.

Not to mention the beauty of the building or how good its been converted and design, I believe Whoever is behind the project as a true understanding of what hospitality’s should be about.

Well prepared staff that makes u feel at home and still be non intrusive.

Generous size and unpretentious rooms, with top quality bed linen , good set of bed pillows with different densities.

The bathroom we had, was also big with double occupancy walking shower. It s worth to mention that the temperature and water pressure of the shower was outstanding!

High-end bathroom amenities. Excellent bath towels, (maybe missing a bath robe though)

Clean room and efficient room turn over.

No buffet for breakfast (thank God) and what a treat its was. From Home made granola with yogurt, to the freshly squeezed (real) orange juice , to de cold cuts plater or the seasonal fruit. Everything that was served was local , fresh and yummy ! … almost forgot, the delicious fresh croissants were the real deal ,warm buttery and crunchy!

The pool and garden area was also lovely and very calm. It might be missing some extra loungers when the hotel is fully booked , which was not the case during our stay so all went smooth.

We could tell that all was made with love, with enormous amount of detail to assure the best experience for the guests.

An real Oasis.

Again we stayed at Travassos 11, it is a fabulous old house close to the centre of town dating from the 18th century and has been lovingly restored. The owners own an antique shop in Lisbon and have furnished the house with some beautiful items sympathetic to the era of the house. Luckily for them, when they acquired the property they discovered a lot of original features still in very good condition, so the house still has some of the original tiling on the walls and floors and an amazing marble staircase where you can see the passage of many feet over the centuries in the worn down centre of each step. We have stayed here once before so knew what to expect. This time, there was a new and very charming manager called Duarte, who welcomed us as if it was his own house. We were the only guests too which made the whole experience even more special.

After breakfast, the next day, before it got too hot, we decided to go for a quick stroll around Elvas. Despite being there twice before, we still managed to find new areas to explore including the English cemetery and the famous Elvas plum museum and preserving factory. It’s such a pretty little town and as it’s an hour further on from Évora, is much less touristy.

Beautiful hotel. It's an old property that is renovated with respect for the features of the old building but also with a casual feel to it. Its beautiful but you don't feel like you're in a museum.
The rooms and the bathrooms are spacious and very clean. Water pressure is great, a lot of towels and pillows available. All very confortable to rest after a day of walking around.
The staff is very nice, the host Pedro couldn't be more welcoming.

Outstanding hotel. Renovated house from the XVIII century, turned into a wonderful boutique hotel. Easy to find, with plenty of available parking in the street nearby. The quality of the linens, bed sheets, towels and bathroom amenities were superb. Very comfy bed, great sleep quality. The staff was excellent. Iria provided an incredible service, with a marvellous breakfast and check in-out experience. Duarte was a wonderful host, providing an awesome tour of the house and catering to all our needs. I don't know how many stars Travassos 11 has, but the experience is 5 stars and luxurious.

It’s a beautiful boutique hotel in a 18th century house in the old city of Elvas. It was opened after COVID. It is totally new with beautiful rooms, pool, terrazzo. A dream. 24/7 coffee and alcohol bar. Do mot follow Waze ot Google maps. Just park at the entry of the old city. Its the pink building.

De manha tem exposição solar. E a partir de meio da tarde metade entra em sombra gradualmente . No entanto com o calor abrasador do alentejo. A sombra é bem vinda.
