Well off the beaten track this place was not what we had hoped for. Simple rooms with a nice pool were about it. It was clean. Breakfast was OK and the staff pleasant. For us a one hour round trip to get anything descent to eat was a good enough reason not to return.
Enroute to Sta Vitoria Vin yards we found this little gem. Great rooms small pool set next to a lake in the Vin yards area. The hotel service was basic a small bar and breakfast so I would advise you have an early dinner before you arrive as the area is very rural. The hotel is very clean the rooms are a good size all on one level. The staff are very friendly. A great spot to totally chill. The area has walks and is good for cycling.
Excellent place, very calm, with nice rooms, a big enough swimming pool and a grass area (good for football with small kids). Ideal place for walks, ride a bike, read a book or do nothing (even do some work with a laptop). Very friendly staff, good food (specially dinner). Great for resting and recharging batteries (with kids or not).
Stayed for one evening with colleagues and we found the place very clean, the staff were extremely helpful and the setting was just lovely. The amenities are basic however for a quiet few days away this place has it all.
We had booked a week’s vacation, but we ended leaving on the second day. The Lodge tries to convey this image of being well in sync with traditional region values, but it seems like any ordinary low-cost hostel you would expect to find in the suburbs. The room was awful, full of IKEA plastic-like paraphernalia and the air-conditioner was not working (in August). The breakfast was, without a doubt, the worst I have ever encountered, when travelling. A few slices of bread, that are always missing, which means you are constantly waiting for someone to bring more, bland foney orange juice, and the worst coffee you can imagine. The swimming-pool is very small (don’t be mistaken by the photos) and is always crowded – we had to wait a couple of hours before being able to sit by the pool. The owner, Ana Teresa do Ó, is the most uneducated person I have ever met in my life. When we booked our week, she was nice and told us we could prepare a soup for our baby in the kitchen, but when we asked to do that, she denied us that possibility. We left the Lodge on the second day, and despite being promised a full return by the owner, we were charged for the first night, when we said we would make this review public. Terrible experience. I know Alentejo very well, and I can assure you that you’ll be able to find much better lodges, any place you look.…
