Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From the entrance of the beautiful big door to the welcome drink on arrival , Steven & Katrina could not have been more helpful with Steven sharing leaflets and wise words on where you should visit locally. The square is a 4 minute walk away and the Melin gate is about 8 minutes so the local is perfect . Breakfast was lovely with an offer of eggs cooked any way with bacon / ham , cheeses, selection of breads / rolls / croissants with juice , tea / coffee. The breakfast set us up for the day. You are also offered free bottled water which is in the fridge by the bottom of the stairs , help yourself as long as you replace it with the ambient bottles by the fridge. When we go back to Ypres we will stay here again. Well done to our hosts.

We don't normally stay in B&Bs but this one had such reviews that we planned to visit in 2020 but Covid prevented our trip. We finally rearranged our trip and were so delighted with this beautiful accommodation. Katrien and Steven are the perfect hosts from before we arrived and throughout our stay. The house is Steven's family home and is absolutely lovely. A glass of wine and a snack on arrival were very welcome and we loved meeting their dog, Billy. If you don't like dogs, they won't bring him in to meet you. The rooms are beautiful; ours was on the first floor and we loved it but our friends equally loved their one on the top floor. Breakfast is excellent - fruit and yoghurt, cold meats and cheese with fresh bread and cooked eggs and bacon. More than you could possible eat. The house is about a 3 minute walk from the Menin Gate and Steven is happy to sit and explain everything within a 20 mile radius (or more) that you might want to visit. Honestly, it was a fantastic stay and Katrien and Steven couldn't have done more for us. I would thoroughly recommend you stay at La Porte Cochere!

We had such a lovely welcome. The room was beautiful and clean. Such character in the house and the breakfast was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it unless you have difficulty with narrow stairs. Very convenient for town centre and easy driving distance of all the WW1 sites.

Room Tip: The stairs are narrow and steep. There’s no parking but you can park for free about 5 minutes...

Right in the centre of Ypres this guest house is in the (rebuilt) ancestral home and looks antique although it is only 100 years old. The owners are very welcoming and provide you with lots of local information. Our room was spacious with lovely furniture and a hospitality tray. It was possible to walk to all the Ypres central attractions. Parking is mostly on street but the owners are helpful in providing the means to park. The stairs might be a bit steep for some people and we found the room suffered a little from nighttime noise of drunken passer-by; earplugs are useful. The breakfast was one of the best you could find with lovely fresh bread, fresh fruit and the offer of cooked eggs as well. I would certainly recommend this place.

All aspects of our stay here were perfect. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, friendly and very informative about the town and surrounding area. All suggestions for trips, bars and restaurants were were greatly appreciated and given with genuine entusiasm. The accommodation is stunning, such a beautiful building, tall and elegant, with a comforting atmosphere. Breakfast was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable with a variety of hot and cold foods on offer. A perfect start to each day for all our tastes. Simply wonderful, thank you!

The welcome by the hosts was excellent, Katrien gave us a quick overview of Ypres, how best to explore it and the surrounding areas followed by a lowdown on bars and restaurants - all over a welcome cup of tea. La Porte Cochere is a lovely building - tall ceilings and excellent decor. Our rooms were on the top floor - spacious, warm and quiet. And finally the breakfasts - a wide healthy choice each morning to set us up for the day. Thank you!

This accommodation is top class. Beautiful building and rooms, very spacious and superbly decorated. The welcome from the hosts was very friendly and informative. The breakfast was delicious. The accommodation is ideally situated for the grote market and Menin Gate, and only a 7 minute walk from the train station. Could not find any fault with this accommodation, and very good value for money.
