If you are planning to visit the beautiful old city of Bruges, then the quirky De Barge Hotel makes the perfect place to base your visit from. It is as it states a barge, so you would expect the rooms to be relatively small...but in truth we found the rooms extremely comfortable with enough room, a very comfy large bed...

We were so looking forward to this, staying on a Canal Boat and as our reservation stated Historical Centre of Brugge. A bit deceiving. Its at least a 15 minute walk into the centre. We had Superior cabins booked. Our friends had little to no hot water in their room above us. Just felt dark and not so comfy and...

What a find. Fantastic hotel on the canal. 15 mins walk to centre of brugges. Upgrade for canal view and have the water lapping at your window as the barges go past. Rooms may be small but quaint and have everything you need. How they fit everything in I don't know. Restaurant on board is ok but the breakfasts are...

My boyfriend booked us two nights stay on the barge last weekend in February. Luckily we struck lucky with the weather, as although cold 5 degrees it was beautifully sunny. The barge was easy to find ( we drive from Dunkirk) only 50 mins. We stayed in the captains room downstairs at the end of the corridor you up a...

Just got back from a trip to Bruges and we had booked a one night stay at De Barge Hotel. Our first thoughts were that it was a different place to stay and we upgraded our room to a canal view - it was quaint and quirky but we liked it. Spent all day out and about seeing the sights...

Overall I loved staying at this place & it really was beautiful to wake up overlooking the canal. It was quiet, the rooms were quirky and comfortable - yes not huge, but come on, it's a barge people!! We didn't hear anything from the other rooms & were actually surprised to see that the place was pretty much full at...

My partner & I stayed here in August, his choice for a big birthday, as he used to own a barge. I wasn't sure about it, but we had a truly enjoyable break. The staff were lovely, very polite & efficient, & occasionally quietly humorous. The hotel was really close to the railway station, (we took a taxi, but it...

Really enjoyed our stay here. Quiet. Lots of quirky details that make it unique and a very reasonable price. Very easy walk into the old town and a great escape if its a day with masses of tourists. The host was great, very friendly and they serve a really good breakfast. Wonderful base for our Bruges stay.
