Nestled in the heart of the city, Martin's Brugge garners praise for its prime location, making it a convenient base for city exploration. The hotel's service is generally celebrated for being friendly and helpful, although there are occasional reports of inconsistency. While the rooms are consistently recognized for their cleanliness, some guests express dissatisfaction with the lack of certain amenities and note the rooms can feel overly warm.
The atmosphere of the hotel is considered clean and minimalist, but it doesn't escape criticism for a perceived lack of character. Travelers also point out that, despite the hotel's many positive aspects, the value proposition is diminished by additional costs for breakfast and parking, coupled with basic amenities that some feel do not fully justify the expense.

Detailed Reviews
Very conveniently located, just behind the Belfry. Checkin was quick and efficient. Room was just clean lines and no clutter, which was actually a nice change of pace given how beautifully dizzying Bruges is. Added bonus was my room (413) looking out onto the Belfry, I could hear the carillon chimes from my bed. A great value in the heart of it all. Highly recommended

+1
The hotel is in the perfect location to visit and experience all that Bruges has to offer, it is literally 2 mins from the Belfry and the main square. We drove to Bruges and used their secure underground garage for the duration of our stay.
The rooms are basic but very comfortable, the bed in particular was very comfy! We had a very small balcony overlooking the road, which was lovely to get the atmosphere.
We would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room and there was no iron / ironing board (although they were available from reception is needed).
The bathroom was spacious and clean, with plenty of hot water for the shower.
Although the hotel has a terrace, you can’t use it past 10pm due to noise restrictions, so we moved inside and were served by the stand out star of the hotel for us… Vlaktko the excellent bar man. He makes the best Moscow Mules! He was friendly and attentive and went over and above to help us.
We found the check in / check out service to be a little slow.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel without hesitation, it is just perfectly located and if you stay then say Hi to Vlatko!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I would not describe this hotel as a ‘3 star superior’. It’s an average hotel with very small rooms - much smaller than is depicted on the website. And frankly, a 2 star Campanile offers more than this hotel does! The shower in our room was terrible with only a trickle of water coming out. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in rooms (a standard in most places). And the breakfast is not worth €20 per person, particularly as the hot food on offer is minimal and of poor quality. But the location is superb and is ideal for exploring Bruges. So if you head to this hotel with realistic expectations you will have a lovely time. If you believe their marketing you will be disappointed.

The location was great and Bruges is beautiful, however the hotel is overpriced, the room has not been decorated and does not look like the pictures, with dead squashed mosquitoes on the walls and large cobwebs. Breakfast is over priced and the WiFi is so bad it doesn't work unless you pay for the "premium" no tea and coffee facilities in the room which was disappointing. Wouldn't stay here again.

My wife and I have stayed several times before at Martin’s, so we know what to expect and clearly were happy to rebook for another 2 night 3 day stay. However on this occasion, we had an unsatisfactory experience.
A 40 minute queue in reception to check in, and payment requested upfront (not required for our previous stays). This was a disappointing start.
On the first morning there was no hot water and no heating. A telephone call to reception revealed a boiler failure where they explained that - work was ongoing to fix but no idea of when it would be fixed. On putting the phone down, the electricity then failed leaving our room in darkness. I shaved in our pitch black bathroom which had no windows, in cold water by torchlight and without a shower we went to breakfast. We were out in Bruges nearly all day. On returning in the evening, there was electricity and hot water but still no heating. I estimate our room temperature was in single figures. Certainly cold enough to warrant wearing a coat indoors. Repeat complaints were made that evening and we also noted that our room had not been serviced. The morning of the third day , it was too cold to sleep hence around 7am I walked to reception in person to highlight that the bathroom had no toilet paper and our towels were wet as the radiators were still not working. The reception staff mentioned they would bring fresh dry towels and toilet paper. The fire alarm then triggered accidentally (no request for evacuation), closing automatic fire doors in the corridors, which delayed the arrival of the fresh towels and toilet paper to our very cold room. We were then offered a different room at around 8am but as we were thankfully checking out that morning within hours we declined as it would have not helped us. On checkout we were informed we could not complain to the manager about the poor hotel facilities or lack of any room servicing as it was his day off. We received an apology from the staff on reception and a small refund against our stay but we left disappointed.

We stayed on 31st May as a family of 4. Paid £256 for a room only rate, no breakfast. Lastminute.com (who I booked with) said parking was included but got stung for an additional €30 at check in- lastminute.com should make travellers aware this facility is not included in the cost.
The hotel and rooms are every basic (no tea/coffee/water in the room). It is devoid of atmosphere or any customer service. Not once were we asked how our stay was, even at check out.
I found it incredibly difficult to get to sleep (went to bed at 10:30pm and still awake at 3am). The room (423) was far too hot (the aircon was not effective in reducing the temperature). It was noisy with the nearby lifts going up and down all through the night. There was a strong antiseptic chemical smell on the bedsheets which not only was very unpleasant but I have now come out in a rash all over my body (except areas covered by my night-dress) despite me never having had issues with any other hotel linen. I do not have sensitive skin and have never reacted this way before, Management need to check with the laundry service what chemicals are being used because this is a very severe reaction that I can only imagine is caused by some unnecessarily strong chemicals.
The saving grace is the location of the hotel, which I can only imagine is why they manage to stay in business. The location is very central-when you walk through the bell tower and come out the other side the hotel is right in front of you so that is really the only silver lining.

The overall stay was ok and reasonable. The cleanliness of the room was lacking (floor was sticky and had hairs, plenty of dust under the bed). The room was super noisy, you could hear every car and garbage trucks from the outside (we were awaken by it at 6am). The breakfast was slighly lacking variety of foods, the hot foods provided were rather bland and tasteless. The breakfast had to be cosumed insode the room due to Covid which is understandable, however, since the room itself was super small, the experience was not the greatest. On the positive side, the parking was underground and well located in the city center. In general, for one night stay, the amenities and the food were ok, however, definitely not the best. I would not come back to this hotel again.

Martin's Hotel is in a terrific location right in the heart of Bruges. While everything was fine I did feel there are opportunities to improve.
We requested an early check in. We arrived very early (midday) and understandably the room was not ready. The best they could do was Check In at the standard time of 3pm. On our return at 3pm the room was still not ready and did not come available until 3.30pm. Given that we had requested an early check in I would have thought they could have made an effort to get us into our room even a little early.
The bar area lacked atmosphere and the service there was not good - Unfriendly and slow.
We stayed in a Quad room. The space was very good and the second bed was actually in a separate room. However for some reason it was a sofa bed. Not sure of the reason for that but my suggestion would be to have a proper bed in place.
All in all these are small issues, but they are areas I feel the hotel could improve.
I would stay here again.
Location is probably the best in Bruges, the reception staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and spacious.

Great central location literally a minutes walk from the main square. The room we were allocated had WIFI issues and we were quickly assigned a (bigger/better) different room. Reception were really helpful with booking taxis and useful advice. Martin's bar was a nice touch although not open on Sunday/Monday. Lovely and clean with room s tidied and bathrooms cleaned every day. My main criticism is there are no tea/coffee making facilities and the breakfast was a whopping 20 euros each. Having said that there are some fabulous breakfast place within a 2 minute walk.

No...not even water glasses in the bathroom. You have to go to reception to ask..and they will give you one paper cup to take back to your room. If you ask for two paper cups, they will provide them, grudgingly. Absoltutely nothing provided.
I don’t remember seeing one.
I don’t remember seeing any pets, I wouldn’t expect it is, best to check with the hotel.
