While visiting Bruges for their famous beer festival, I spent one evening at the Golden Tulip Hotel De' Medici. The location is absolutely perfect as it is located on one of the most romantic canals of Bruges, only few minutes walking distance from the main Market Square. Although I shared a room with a friend, each of us had plenty of privacy. The room was comfortable and had modern facilities. Please do not hesitate to contact our staff on duty to assist you with this. We arrived super early and were allowed to store our luggage in a large conference room so it is good for business meetings. The hotel offers free WIFI for all guests. The hotel also offers a health center with sauna, Jacuzzi and steam bath at an additional cost, but I did not use them. The fitness room is free for hotel guests. The hotel also offers a private owned underground garage for approximately 35 cars, at a supplement. The breakfast is amazing and offers free champagne. I enjoyed eggs, bacon, cheese, salmon, and several glasses of champagne. I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Hotel De Medici while visiting Bruges. I had stayed here in 2020 during the beer festival. Once again, the hotel met all my expectations. The breakfast is hearty with some variety, but there are no eggs made to order. The gardens are lovely with a fountain and Japanese maple trees. The staff is very friendly too. The room is simple, but comfortable. When touring, my wife and I primarily use to room to sleep, eat breakfast, and shower. This hotel satisfies in all three areas. Parking is available in a secure private garage for an extra charge.

Located through the town centre, a 10 min walk from the bustle. Almost a residential area located next to the canal in a stunningly picturesque part of Bruge. This hotel is simply stunning.
We travelled on foot from the train station (30 min easy walk over (mostly) cobbled streets - makes pulling a wheeled suitcase interesting.
The hotel from the street is deceptive; doubles as a conference centre so has plenty of space inside. No parking though other than outside on street.
Reception staff are friendly and helpful. They speak English really well (but do appreciate it if you try a little French).
The rooms are clean, big (we had an eaves room with a velux window overlooking the street. The furniture is a little old but functional.
No windows in the bathroom make it dark but it’s clean and has a good size shower and dual sink area.
Tea and coffee making facilities in the room added for a nice touch; along with hotel hairdryer too.
The hotel has plenty of guests but there’s no noise on corridors and the lifts work well and aren’t crowded.
Breakfast is continental breakfast style; good choice, well stocked and very tasty.
If you need snacks, there’s a spa-esk kind of shop across the road selling groceries, milk and confectionary. It’s close to the bus routes into town if you don’t fancy walking.
The really cool thing; it’s the spot where Windows have their screensaver wallpaper on Lock Screen - it certainly makes you smile to think you walked that street and over that beautiful little bridge.
A gem of a hotel, we’d stay there again

It's a hotel that calls itself 4* but is not worth 1*.
Indeed, I received a very cold welcome from the reception (except for a young girl of North African origin), the checkout was also not very friendly because it had to be done at 11 a.m. sharp; we got really yelled at because we left the room 15 minutes late. It's like we were being given a gift for not having charged for another night.
The room was disappointing, did not match the beautiful photos on their site. The bedding was way too hard, the mattress had lots of stains when I looked under the sheets. The bathroom was, of course, clean but there was a poor amount of soap already used and the shampoo was half empty, the contents of which smelled bad so we washed ourselves with the small soap that we had washed beforehand. The toilet had very cheap brown paper, supposedly eco-friendly! We had to do around ten layers so it wouldn't tear at the slightest contact with the buttocks!
The mini-bar was completely empty, there was not even a small bottle of water, you had to have a bottle of your own or a flask and go to the hotel bar, fill it on a fountain "generously" provided arrangement.
The breakfast was poor, contained next to nothing, I've had better lunches in F1 hotels!
In short, zero services and all this makes me say that it is not at all a 4 star hotel and not at all a hotel that I recommend.

Booked for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were kindly received. We got a brief explanation of where we could find our room. Once we found the room we could not enter. I could walk down again to ask what the problem was. Card was not activated. Once inside the room we saw dust on the edges against the wall. Mosquitoes beaten to death against the walls. Hotel is very outdated definitely bathroom. If someone takes a shower and the other one turns on the tap of the sink, you get boiling water all over you. You have to pay for everything: 25€ if you want to park your car in the private parking lot, 25€ if you want to go to the hot tub, 16€ for an umbrella it was raining and had forgotten mine. Breakfast was the first day good little people, second day much people there was no more baguette, no more hard boiled eggs and the rest was not refilled. Me and some other people ate the leftovers.

Stayed for two nights as a couple. The hotel is only 15 mins taxi ride from Bruges train station costing about €11. It's located within 10 mins walk from the main square, passing across the canal bridges and past historic houses, restaurants and bars.
The room was fairly basic with only a couple of working English TV channels (but we weren't there to watch TV). The room was chilly to start with but soon warmed up with the warm air heating. Staff are helpful, polite and friendly. The water pressure is incredible for a much needed hot bath when we got back after hours walking around the city in minus temperatures. Didn't get to the spa downstairs, so can't comment on that, but it's an option for next time. Breakfast was pretty good with hot and cold options.
Overall, we had a good experience and would stay there again.

Dear Mark, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your two-night stay at our lovely quiet hotel. It's great to know that the location, within a pleasant walk from the main square, and the helpful and friendly staff contributed to a positive experience. We appreciate your feedback on the room, and we're glad that it warmed up comfortably. The high water pressure for a hot bath and the good breakfast options are noted and appreciated. Upon arrival, little (read: no) explanation about where we could find the room. There are 2 elevators in the building, the first elevator we took led us to a hallway without any lighting. Then back to the reception and then there is someone who had to find where we needed to be.
The room was freezing and could not be heated, mold on the seal around the bath. No shower gel, spare toilet paper in the room.
In the bar in the evening we were served again by a young man who clearly knows nothing. He served the Ricard with lemon 😳, then made it again without it.

The young man asked if we wanted anything else, which we confirmed. However, the man disappeared like crazy. I couldn't find an employee there anymore.

The drinks fountain in the bar where you can get free water, has no cups or bottles.

I certainly do not understand that the parking cannot be reserved in advance.
Because you can certainly do this with the front office program 'Mews' that they use. But yes, it is a matter of wanting.

We both barely slept due to the temperature of the room.
We left without eating breakfast.

The whole thing is outdated and, as far as I know, not worth a 4* (barely 2sup).

The man at the reception at check out was more professional. and did his job well.

Friendly reception staff. Room spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows Surprised to see an uncarpeted floor but it felt fresh and is easier to keep clean. Would've liked an information leaflet. Just small niggles really but a soap dish would be helpful in the bathroom. Breakfast choices were good but the cooked food was lukewarm to cold. Appreciate its not easy to keep food warm with people constantly opening the lid. Maybe it would be better to have separate containers for each dish.
Overall though we had a good visit.

We stayed four nights in a standard room and were very happy with all aspects of the hotel. Our room was bright and modern, the daily cleaning/tidying was of a very good standard. The buffet style breakfast was plentiful and the range of food was more than sufficient to satisfy anyone. We loved the location, in the quieter part of town, yet within easy walking distance of the main tourist sights. If walking doesn’t appeal there is a bus stop on the opposite side of the canal ( I minute walk over the bridge) and the No 2 takes you to the centre and then to the train station. Very convenient! I would thoroughly recommend the Golden Tulip de Medici for a short break in Bruges.
