An is a fantastic host, very welcoming and helpful. She lives below the rooms but is not overly around that much. The rooms are painted in really cool designs and have some interesting furniture. They come with a wash basin, and whilst the bathrooms are shared there are two spaces with a shower and a bath. Breakfast was lovely, An...

We visited Ghent in December 2015 for a weekend. We chose this b&b for its positive reviews and were not disappointed. Communication with hosts was prompt. Place is clean, rooms are spacious and there are funky design decorations. Bathroom was opposite our room and everything was clean. Breakfast is great, selection of pastries, fresh juice, all of the high quality....

We stayed at Design and Breakfast for a long weekend, and enjoyed it. The much touted design classics are fun (perhaps more fun than practical, and quite heavy on the plastic) but the bed in the Orange room was comfortable. The room had its own sink and a TV (not a design classic) and a very appealing baseball glove sofa....

There was a bad smell in the room presumably from all the old plastic furniture. The kitchen was not adequately equipped for cooking and four flights of stairs from the bedroom. There was no contact with the hosts. I left early because I couldn't stand the smell.

We stayed here on the last day of a cycling trip through Holland and Belguim. It was easy to book and the hosts were very communicative. We arrived and were made to feel instantly welcomed. The facilities are excellent, locked storage for bikes, a lovely kitchen, garden and wonderful deisgner rooms. Our room was huge and we had a good...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome at Design&Breakfast Lousbergskaai! Both having traveled a lot, we know how it feels: arriving at a dull hotel room, looking at the furniture and realizing how impersonal everything is. We try to do it differently by creating a warm and special atmosphere in our own interior. The 3 spacious bedrooms on the second floor of our 19th century riverside manor house are comfortably furnished with some of the nicest design pieces of this century. Each room has a different feeling. This is not only created by the mix of vintage and new design furniture, but also by the artworks on the wall, especially created for Design&Breakfast by different international artists. There are 2 bathrooms across the hallway of the rooms. Breakfast is served in a large kitchen next to the garden. In the summer breakfast can be served in our garden and you can enjoy the sun watching the fish in our pond. You are welcome to use our bicycles (on reservation) and you can also park your car safely in our garage (on reservation as well) and discover the city by foot. It only takes 15 minutes to walk to the historical center of Gent. The train station 'Dampoort' is reachable within a 10 minutes walk. Each room has a television and DVD-player and for those who like to sleep out there is a late checkout possible. ... more   less
