The hotel makes play on its history and links with the past even to having a suit of armour in the dining room. For those wanting nostalgia this may be the very place. However, staying in a museum may not be to everyone's taste. The amenities are somewhat dated and, I suspect, have not been upgraded for a number of years....

Lovely, funky, amazing location...I would go back !! The breakfast is included and very nice. The room we stayed in could use little updating while preserving the old feel...new bedding, and a fresh coat of paint would be a +. Loved the little courtyard. The staff was very nice , helpful and professional. Gent is an incredible city with an...

We settled on Erasmus as we left our run for a reasonable price in Bruges too late (August is like that in Europe!). To our delight we loved Ghent as well as our hotel, possibly more than Bruges. The hotel is a very old building, which we loved, three storeys high. No lift. Even the first floor rooms have to...

The staff at the Erasmus made us feel very much at home. We had the key to the front door and could come and go as we pleased. The furnishings of the rooms are old fashioned; some would even refer to them as being antiques. Yet, in spite of it being in an old building, everything somehow works well. The...

Like vintage cars, old hotels have a special charme. In this case, the charme extended to the staff: the were friendly because they wanted to be friendly and not because some senior executive told them to and had them trained to use the right phrases. And the charme includes the location: a two minute walk and there is a first...

The Reception staff were friendly and very helpful, and the hotel in an interesting old building was a welcome contrast to the more modern types. We had one single and one double room and they were both nicely furnished. There was not a huge choice at breakfast but the quality was good, with one of the best fresh croissants I...

I found this online late at night for the next night. I walked up and actually couldn't figure out how to get in. The lady at the desk heard my confusion and looked out the door to find me! (There is a door bell on the right hand side of the door). Though it was about 10 AM a room...

In a quiet street just two minutes walk into the heart of Ghent, the weather was dry but cold when I spent a week here but my room was always lovely and warm. I stayed in a large room overlooking the medieval style garden and had everything I needed. The only criticism is that the lighting is poor if you...

The Eurasmus Hotel is situated in a beautiful, old, historic building. And the location is perfect for seeing the city of Ghent on foot. You are in the middle of everything. The room was fairly small and basic, but comfortable and cozy. We really dislike the big chain hotels where it's all slick and modern (AKA "boring"). We like the...

I was drawn to the hotel due to its history. It did not disappoint. The rooms were a little dated, but very cosy and warm. My room was large and had lovely chairs. The bathroom was freshg and clean. THe location is fantastic, 2 mins to the old town, close to everything you would want to see for a short...
