Have just returned from a 2 night stay on board and pleased to give out my first 5 star review !! This is a really good place to stay. The barge is really big and the en suite room we had was perfectly big enough for a short break with a good sized bathroom attached. The barge is decorated in...

I stayed here for 6 nights in early March and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mathieu, Ayesha and Jan were wonderful (I didn't get to meet Erica). If you follow the directions you won't have any trouble finding it. As to the location, I found it a very easy and pleasant walk from downtown. I was alone and felt very safe in...

We stayed here last month for 5 nights. We were very excited to stay here but were utterly disappointed. The boat is about 15 min walk from Dampoort train station and easy to find. But if you are a tourist, I would strongly recommend staying closer to the historic city center. Ghent is a beautiful city at night so if...

Chosen as a result of other reviews and endorse them. The cabins are basic but comfortable although maybe the one right at the front is a little claustrophobic and the bed only standard size. Showers were powerful and water hot. Mathieu, the manager, is very friendly and helps with suggestions for restaurants. It is a fairly brisk 15 minute walk...

A bit difficult to find if you didn't read the instructions.A real surprise when you come into the boat, beautifully furnished cosy rooms and very welcoming staff. 10 minutes walk into the center and very quiet spot I will definetly go back

Just had a long weekend in Ghent and we stayed on the Bon Vivant. Initially concerned about staying on a boat in November, but we were made very welcome when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble. As other reviewers have said, allthough you are in an industrial section within 10 minutes - (15 - 20 mins when my...

Thorougly enjoyed our two night stay on Bon Vivant. Our room was very comfortable and we loved the swans who swam up to the porthole to say hello. It is just a short walk into the old town so very convenient. The common room on the boat was gorgeous with comfy lounges and loads of books, etc. to browse. We...

This is a very cozy boat B&B with friendly staff/owner and travelers. It is situated about 10 minutes walk from old Ghent and Dampoort Station. I would recommend this B&B to other travelers.

My boyfriend and i spent a few days in Gent, Belgium last January. For accomodation we chose the Bed&Breakfast Boat Bon Vivant, run by Erica and Jan. On arrival at the Gent-Dampoort train station we kinda thought we had made a mistake because of the industrial look of the surroundings. We figured that the town centre would be quite far...

Bon vivant is a converted barge moored in a quiet, former industrial, area of Ghent. The cabins are spacious, with en-suite facilities, and Erica and Jan are great hosts. Breakfast is lovely and the historic town centre only a pleasant 10-15 minute walk away. The area around the boat is a little neglected and doesn't give a great impression on...
