I stayed one night at the Matelote hotel in December 2011 for business purposes and paid € 110 excluding breakfast € 12 extra). As they had only 1 standard room left when booking, I booked a suite for my colleague, which cost € 150 exkl. breakfast. The lady at the reception was very friendly and immediately explained to us the...

My wife and I stayed here the last night of a 2 week trip to the low countries. This was probably my least favorite of the places we stayed. On the plus side, the staff was VERY nice and VERY courteous. The location is also exceptional - just a couple of streets from the city center but despite this was...

I wish that I had been travelling for pleasure/holiday, instead of business. This hotel is a gem in the middle of Antwerp. I had to leave before breakfast was served each day, and I was rushing to deal with business concerns. If I had been on holiday, I would have enjoyed this hotel even more. The decor was perfect for...

Historic Antwerp, great location/Tick 16th century building with plenty of exposed beams etc/ tick welcoming and helpful staff/ tick. Free Wifi/ tick, very comfortable king sized bed (2 singles together) tick Tiny minimalist rooms with polished concrete floors- no thanks, or at least put a rug on the floor. This kind of thing can work but didn't here for me....

Hotel Matelote is tucked away in a small street/alley off one of the busy pedestrian thoroughfares. It is ideally situated in very close proximity to the Grote Market, copious restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and museums. We never needed to take public transit or taxis to any destination we sought out. The hotel is somewhat small. Only 11 rooms. Each one...

We booked this hotel based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and were looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We had a room on the top floor which on a positive note was a decent size - you would never get that size of a room in a similar New York City location for the same price....

A buddy and I stayed here for three nights during our European beer tour. The hotel was conveniently located steps away from the square with tons of restaurants and bars. There’s actually I nice local bar located a few doors down. The hotel is sort of hidden down a quiet street which I liked! However, we needed to ask a...

Superb location! 1 minute walk to the "grote markt" and "groenplaats" Helpful and very friendly staff! Serving you with a smile! (thats how it should be everywhere!) Nice breakfast and comfortable rooms with very nice beds and pillows! Looks very modern and clean stylish, yet so charming! Nicely styled hotel with friendly staff, however, we paid too much money for what we got.  This goes for the hotel but above all for the breakfast ... 12 Euros per person for a rather poor continental breakfast.  Should you be looking for an accommodation in this price range, be aware that you're paying mainly for the location which, without...
