My kids and I spent two nights here and loved it. We had the ground floor room and it had a lovely patio to the back yard. The room was clean and comfy. The staff there are lovely and helpful. The breakfast they serve in the morning is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The minibar is well-stocked and also reasonably...

We spent 4 nights at the Mary K and loved it. Our room overlooked the canal and was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The atmosphere of the Mary K and eco - friendly theme is a pleasure to experience. The staff are welcoming, helpful and offer some great suggestions of places to eat and see. The 'fresh & fruity' breakfast was a...

I end up overnighting in Amsterdam several times a year and have come to prefer staying in one of the smaller cities surrounding Amsterdam (Leiden, Utrecht) rather than staying at the chain hotels near Schiphol or in central Amsterdam. Generally, I find I can arrive at Schiphol with less fuss and in less time than from Amsterdam. I've stayed at...

We had a big room on the bottom floor in typical dutch houuse with big windows towards the street and the canal. Very confortable and nice. If you want something more personal than the big hotels this is the place. Placed very central in Utrecht with walking distance to everything.

I chose Mary K really on the back of other reviews and I have to say I was not disappointed. This is an 18th century house in easy walking distance from the centre of Utrecht. The interior decor is beautiful. Whilst it retained some of its original features and charm, it has been very tastefully modernised and is very unique...

My wife and I stayed here on a recent trip, and were really delighted by the room (which overlooked the canal) and the warm, friendly staff. The room was clean, comfortable, and eclectically decorated, and the hotel's location alongside the canal was perfect for seeing the city. We will certainly choose to stay here if we visit Utrecht again.

Parking is about 1/2-3/4 of a mile away from hotel, the garage is next to the police station. We booked an upgraded room with a view that would sleep 3. This meant we had the room by the front door, all guest coming in and out sounded as if they were coming into our room, do not stay in this...

What a lovely place to stay. From the minute I entered the reception and dining area I loved the unique and charming feel of this hotel. The staff are equally charming, so helpful and friendly and willing to do much to make your stay comfortable and easy. The room I had (room 1) was absolutely lovely, large, spacious, great bathroom...

There is a lot of passion and love at the Mary K. Everything has character, to begin with the rooms - all different and charming. Mine is called "workshop" - room number 5, where a small canvas was waiting for my evening "art-attack"! There is great attention in serving organic, freshly prepared breakfast and definitely the guests are well taken...

Thank you very much for your nice review! The stairs are steep indeed. Because our 18th century building is monumentally protected we may not put an ellavator in the building. But we are happy to carry your luggage up the stairs. And if you don't want to climb any stairs at all, we also have rooms on the ground floor.

I have stayed in many hotels around the world, from regular to the most luxurious, but Mary K definitely stands out! It has all the facilities of a hotel but gives you the feeling of being at home. We got Room #1, at street level, and I felt in love with it... Spacious room, super comfy bed, lovely decoration... We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Mary K Hotel is a green deluxe art-hotel situated in a 18th century canal house on the well known 'Oudegracht' in downtown Utrecht. She accommodates nine rooms of various sizes and themes. We divided them in Cosy Small, Comfortable Medium and Large Deluxe. But every single one of them is totally different. For example "the Bedstead", where you can eat, sleep, read or watch television while watching the boats pass by. 'The Greenhouse", where you can rest yourself in a retro relaxed atmosphere with a sliding door towards the garden. And 'the Royal Rooftop" a suite with a beautiful canal view. Especially at night when the light come out. The whole interior of the Mary K Hotel was designed together with Utrecht based artists. Although Mary K offers you the comforts of a luxury hotel, we aim for the atmosphere to be laid-back, friendly and personal. We can safely say that we are one of the greenest hotels in Utrecht. During the development and renovation process, we have sourced our materials carefully. And now that we are up and running we do everything we can to work as environmentally friendly as possible. Just because we think that this is the only right way to run our business. ... more   less
