The name from the street is "Park Plantage" instead of Alfa Plantage. They don't clean the bathroom nor the room, don't make the bed. Very expensive, awful, noise from the street. Situation quite good.

Our room was ok. But was not cleaned once in our 4 day break.no clean towels or bedding. We even run out of toilet paper and had to use napkins. Loved Amsterdam but. would not return to this hotel .on the plus side it has a good location opposite the zoo. Could be so much better.

Our room was clean and had big airy windows. Our en suite was a bit small but was fully equipped with a working shower. We had a plasma TV too and air conditioning which I loved. The hotel has a lift which is handy because there is so many stairs and it is narrow and winding. The location was really... More

It looked like a hostel to me, even if actually some hostels are in better conditions. The carpet in the room was dusty, some towels dirty of something like make-up, the socket of the lamp dangerously broken, and the stool was sticky... I booked for a room with shower and they gave us a room with bath, which was fine... More

Reception staff on check in were no enough, racially the girl who checked us in she was very welcoming. However the room was not up to scratch. TV was poor and bad reception Bathroom fittings having off Reception staff hurrying us out the room at 11:50 overall not great. Room size ok, location 20 mins from Dam SQ not bad.

The only benefit to this hotel is the cost in relation to the distance to the city center. If you are stuck not being able to take the tram line or metro from the city center after they both stop running for the night back to the hotel and have to walk back, this location is good. The rooms are... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
