This B & B is fantastic! More like a flat than a hotel room, The Flying Pancake was well-appointed, very clean, good bed, had a kitchenette, charming, offered chocolates daily, and liquers in the room. Breakfast was delivered every morning and it was possible to request baked goods from a selection. Claudia and Hans were great! Highly recommended.

I visited Amsterdam during July and stayed at the Flying Pancake with my husband and son for 6 nights. Everything that the previous reviewers posted about this wonderful place is correct, and I can only add: we enjoyed greatly this comfortable apartment, the ambience of a quiet residential neighborhood, the vast collection of books, music, DVDs and liqueurs that were...

Two nights in this place, everything was nice. As mentioned before, not a place for the disabled, as stairs are narrow and steep. But this goes for most houses and therefore B6B's in Amsterdam, I guess. We had the upper appartment, where there is no door to the shower/toilet. The door is actually outside in the hallway, and cana be...

A quiet resedential street, lovely and peaceful and only a short walk from all entertainment! The appartment was beautifully decorated, elegant and tasteful with a fantastic bathroom that included a huge shower/ steamroom - this was a delightful relaxing treat after a long day of cycling & sightseeing. The Flying Pancake has a private entrance apart from the residential family,...

Excellent location for the appartment. Easy to get to from Central Station. Tram number 9. Appartment was excellent. Had great hi-tech things like steamer in shower and also IPOD. Breakfast was great and very traditional. Best appartment ever. Will be back next to stay there next year. Owner was very welcoming and helpful.

We just returned from a 4-days trip to Amsterdam where we stayed at TFP. What a good decision to choose this comfortable & cosy B&B instead of an impersonal hotel. It is situated in a quiet residential area with all the attractions of Amsterdam in walking distance. We stayed at the 1st floor flat which has been beautifully renovated and...

We have just returned from a weekend at the Flying Pancake, and thought it was a lovely place to stay. Claudia is a warm and friendly host, and most accommodating. We stayed in the first floor apartment, which consisted of one large open plan room, split into bedroom and living area, with a small kitchen around the side. The kitchen...

My husband Mike and I (Ellie) just returned from a wonderful stay at the Flying Pancake B&B in Amsterdam. We loved the area - in a residential area, so one really gets the feel of life in Amsterdam - unlike the hotels we've previously stayed in. Claudia is a wonderful hostess - provides information as needed, serves a scrumptious breakfast...

We stayed at The Flying Pancake for 3 nights in May 2006. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It is very comfortable, stylish and they have thought of all those little extras that make a big difference to your stay.

What a lovely time we had. The Flying Pancake offers fabulous accomodation for the discerning traveller looking for a comfort and style in a quite yet convenient area of this beautiful city. Our host, Claudia, could not have been more helpful offering us advice and recommendations on places to eat and taxi numbers. The room was more than comfortable in...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
