My wife and I spent two days here in September, in the same downstairs room as the previous reviewer. We too were surprised to find the toilet was not in our room, but in a small bathroom just outside the door. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. I’m guessing most, if not all of the other...

The Heren is a beautiful 17th century canal house that, although completely modernized inside, retains all of its beauty and charm. My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights and were glad we did. We had one of the two bedrooms downstairs. It's quite large, with a comfortable bed and a beautiful open bathroom with a great shower. Unfortunately,...

What a terrific place. We spent the nights of August 17 - 21 at the Heren. All of the positive reviews are right on: wonderful location for a tourist; 5 minute walk to the train station; quiet at night; a variety of tasty foods for breakfast; charming living room overlooking the canal; availability of the kitchen and dining room; food...

Rooms: We stayed at the upstairs room which was abosultely lovely. What I loved the most was that each room in the house is privately located so it feels like you have the house all to yourself. The house is very modern, clean, well decorated and very comfortable. Hosts: We met only with Vlad and the helpers in the house....

Perfect! What else do I need to say. We stayed here earlier this year. The location was fantastic and was only about a five to eight minute walk to the main train station. The neighbourhood was charming with plenty of things to see and do in this part of central Amsterdam. It was not noisy in the area and the...

We stayed at Heren B&B Jul 6-9. Using the emailed map and instructions, we walked from the train station and met Vlad at their Maes B&B location. Then he walked us a couple blocks to the Singel canal location. Even though one of the wheels on my over-packed suitcase was stuck, Vlad insisted on carrying it for me. What a...

We stayed at the B&B in July and very much enjoyed our stay. Vlad and his staff were very helpful with any questions we had and our room was really great. The decor was modern and clean. The location was within striking distance of everything. Thank you for a memorable stay.

My daughter and I stayed at Heren B&B for 2 nights, July 10-11. I booked our room in April via email. Vlad and Ken sent very detailed instructions on the policies and directions to reach the B&B. We walked to from the train station and it was literally 5 minutes rolling our suitcases over the cobblestones. We checked in at...

My partner and I stayed at Heren B & B in the last week of June. Ken and Vlad have done a beautiful job renovating this stunning and well-positioned, flower filled, canal house. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home; all of our needs were catered for with smiles and grace. Breakfast was generous and delicious....

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
