Good value for money in a good location. Safe and very close to Rijks/Van Gogh Museums. Also very close to tram line that will take you further into Amsterdam if you don't want to walk. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Room was very simple and small but clean. Concert one night of my stay outside Rijks Museum made sleep difficult...

We stayed there for an extended time. Changed rooms several times. Spots on all the bed linens. Bedbugs. We were bitten so badly that we had to go to the doctor. The doctor said they had never seen so many bites on one person. The owners, all family members didn't care at all. In fact the exterminator who showed up...

If you like walking, centrum is 20 minutes of a joyful walk. Hotel location seems a bit far from the centrum on the map, but it is not that far if you can walk 20-30 minutes. There are many attractions on that walk, too. Tram to central station is only several minutes anyway. My room was on 3rd floor. Entire...

Although this hotel was quite pricey, it was in line with other Amsterdam hotel prices for the time of year (xmas), however, it is well run, clean and the family are all very friendly, even letting me use their office pc and printer when I needed to book museum tickets. Beds were very comfy and the room was quiet. Only...

our room was very very spacious, the bath was small but good enough and the staff(my impression was that it is a family) is very kind and patient and put up with the most ridicolous things we asked them! Only problem is the moquette in the rooms not exactly good looking and in general the whole room needed some renewing....

We too were victims of Room 12! Having read reviews from 2005 it looks like little has changed. The staircase is a health hazard. We only had light hand luggage but it would have been nearly impossible to get big suitcases up the 3 flights. Room 12 is narrow and small. It has twin beds. A dangerous looking light contraption...

I absolutely loved my stay here. The staff was on top of everything, very helpful and engaging. My room was clean and had a shower in it, with the toilet on the next floor up. Quiet at all times. The tram stop is immediately down the block. I'd read some prior reviews, most were relatively positive but had hints of...

I stayed at the Verdi with my ten year old son. We picked it for its price and location (near the Van Gogh Museum) as this was the main reason for the trip. We had a double room, which was very clean and comfortable, although there was a strange smell throughout. The door to the en suite bathroom didn't close...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
