I am a senior solo traveler, RUST BandB was perfect during my 5 days visit to Amsterdam, I was received with a friendly welcome smile from Matthijs after a long day traveling. The bed was very comfortable the share bathroom was spotless and was never a problem, (actually I never saw the guest from the other room only their toothbrush)....

A lovely B&B just off a side street in a very central area, we were able to check into our room early to leave our bags and then go out site seeing. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of advice on things to do. Breakfast is served in a very small café down the road, but...

We spent two nights at Rust. The owner is really nice, very helpful. Great location in the heart of Amsterdam, just few steps from the river. Bathroom good, clean. Room should be cleaner (dust on the window). The bed was comfortable. Great breakfast just five minutes walk from appartment.

I'm so thankful we happened upon RUST B&B while we were looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam. The bed was so comfortable, the room was quiet (even though RUST is also well-situated right in the center of town), and both room and shared bathroom were SO CLEAN! We didn't get the chance to meet Francina, but Matthijs was...

Thank you so much Aaron for your detailed review. we are very happy with your explanation of the steep stairs. It is indeed not so suitable for people with walking difficulties. Hope to see you and your girlfriend again!

You do share a bathroom but there are only 2 rooms so thats wasn't a problem. The b&b is 1 allyway away from...

RUST B&B was a great place to stay during my 24 hour layover in Amsterdam. The location was very central, my room cozy and clean. Marcus was there to meet me when I arrived and he made me feel very welcome. He asked what my plans were and made some good suggestions as to how I could maximize my short...

It was the first time I booked a B&B in my own country and in a city already knew pretty well. I stayed at the RUST B&B together with my mom in february. The hostel is nice enough, we stayed in the Dutch themed room. A bit tacky but nice enough. The bed and the room are quite small (would...

Wow, what a stay we had with Matthijs and Francina! Our two nights were magnificent, thanks most to our wonderful hosts! Matthijs greeted us as warmly as you could ask for and spend - no exaggeration - probably 20 minutes talking to us about the city and activities we might be interested in. In fact we never would have found...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
