It has a cute little bar as well. The bed was really comfortable!! - Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good...

I stayed here for 1 night. The room was absolutely fine for a single traveller, the bed was quite comfortable and (which is a rarity) there were tea and coffee facilities. Sadly, this morning I had to brave a cold water shower as there was no hot water. On check out I was told that the boiler failure happened during...

So I stayed at this central hotel for two nights for my birthday!! (I didn't even get a simple Happy birthday from any of the staff whilst checking in) The best thing about this hotel is the location if I'm truly honest also the cleanliness. There was a pretty helpful staff member too, would I stay here again? If I...

Modern, spacious rooms, good air con, ever so slightly noisy if room is facing the street, but I didnt find this to be an issue. Functioning safe and good sized bathroom. Downside is the wifi is agonisingly slow. I cant imagine a more central location and would highly recommend.

The hotel is located just 600 m from the main station so an easy walk however you arrive in Amsterdam. Upon arrival entry is via a buzzer to the reception/bar stopping people from wandering in from the street increasing the secure feeling. The room was clean and spacious. The only minor niggle was the toilet was next to the shower's...

Spent 3 nights at the Luxer Hotel Amsterdam with my husband last weekend (27th-30th October) after looking for somewhere central it was recommended to us by a friend. What a recommendation it turned out to be!! Firstly I knew check in was mid afternoon and our flight was an early one so I emailed the hotel asking if an early...

Perfect location, close to major transport hub and night life. I like that there's always people around. The drink prices are the best I've seen in the area. Lots and lots of food options near this hotel. And very close to red light district which I liked. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom was bigger than expected, and staff was...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
