Popular hotel located in a wonderful location close to Central station. Everything we wanted to see was in walking distance from this hotel. Red light district around the corner was underwhelming, lots of restaurants and shops in this bustling area. Room was clean and comfortable although there was no view from the first floor room. Breakfast available for extra cost,...

Perfect budget hotel in the very centre of Amsterdam. Everything is walking distance, there's a bar with cheap beer and they are always willing to walk extra mile for a happy customer. Rooms are neat, beds are super comfy and ther's a candy machine in every hallway. What can be better?!

I have now have had the luxury of staying at the luxer twice in two years. First time around I thought the hotel was great, the second time round and the hotel is still great. Excellent staff, very clean and very tidy hotel in a fantastic close proximity to the train station. The rooms are not massive but spacious enough...

The important things: Excellent location, clean room, quite (for us), great air conditioning with room control, free internet, and unlimited hot water with a roomy shower with plenty of water pressure. As for the "excellent location" it's a 5 min walk from the Central Train station, and near the city center. You can walk or take a tram to anywhere...

Lovely quiet hotel in the centre of everything and really close by the Centraal Station. Hotel was extremely clean and we had a great stay there. Bed was very comfortable too. It was very easy to walk everywhere and it felt very safe even though it was quite close to the Red Light district. We will be back to stay...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
