Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Besides being a hotel, it has a very nice old school, typical Dutch bar, with very nice people working there. Drinks are affordable, looking at the area. Special mention to Sammy & Luba. Definitely will come back and you should visit too!!!!

The hotel was in the perfect location & for the price I paid is incredible! I have been to Amsterdam before so know where everything is however if you havent been before & want to be in the heart of everything, this is the perfect hotel for you. Reception staff are friendly, room was clean, beds werent the best but honestly its just somewhere to rest your head for the night as we were out the whole time. Reception can arrange excursions for you, taxis etc! Only thing we wasnt aware of is the £50 charge for a room deposit. It is in small print on booking.com which the reception staff showed to me however just be aware of this. we paid in cash & brought the receipt down upon check out & got that back straight away. Thank you for a lovely stay in Amsterdam, I will definitely be back for this location.

Hotel is an ideal location. Bedsheets we’re covered in hairs upon arrival. (We never informed staff about this). Also be mindful of the staircase leading up to the rooms as pictures here do not depict how steep they are In person. Might not be suitable for elderly. Staff were very friendly. Got new towels dropped up daily. In the room myself and friends stayed in there was an attic type wooden ladder leading to a bed. The safety guard is very low therefore it’s easy for an accident to occur. I would still recommend this hotel overall.

Some of the negative reviews are unfair. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the Ritz, but it does the job for a 4/5 day Am’Dam trip. Pro’s: - Close to central station - EXCELLENT location, ample number of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, souvenir shops within 1 minutes walking distance - Good powerful hot shower - Beds were extremely comfy with clean linen - Safe, hairdryer & TV in bedroom - Staff were friendly and helpful Con’s: - Other than the horrendous smell of sewerage in the hallways, overall, this hotel is reasonable. For the people who claim this is more of a hostel, thats all I can say is those people clearly haven’t stayed in a hostel before. The price you pay, clearly reflects the standard of this accommodation. 3 of us paid €100 each for 3 nights, in a triple room. Absolute bargain! Would recommend and come back!

I had a large room (6 beds) on the first floor. Check-in was wonderful the girl running it was very nice and helpful and was able to answer a few questions about the area. laundry was coin-op and located right next door 7am-7pm. The beds were all comfortable and the bathroom/shower was nice and located in the room. however as you can guess due to the location it is exceptionally loud at night. They do offer ear plugs as an option but i chose just to power through it. By the 3rd day i was sleepy enough it was fine. My kids did not complain about the sound at all. There are a number of restaurants in walking distance and you will have no problems finding something walkable that is open pretty much any time of day/night.

What a great location! Close to the Dam and nightlife. Great patio bars nearby. The room was quite large for a boutique hotel. Clean and comfortable with a nice canal view. Five minutes walk from the train station. The restaurant our front is cozy and happy hour is 5pm til 8pm.

I found this hotel online and decided to take a chance given its favorable pricing and great location. We booked two rooms for two days each. What a pleasant surprise. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The bar restaurant on the first floor (which doubles for check-in) was great. A bit high at 14Euro for breakfast, but overall a wonderful small hotel.

Stayed here at the end of April for the recent Metallica concerts with a friend. The location was perfect - a five minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal station - and we were pleasantly surprised considering some of the reviews on here. While we only really used it as a base, the reception staff were extremely friendly and we were checked in quickly. Our room was on the second floor and while it had a window, the view was of the next building. No big deal. The room itself looked nothing like some of the pictures previously posted. It was modern, clean, and perfect for two big lads. The bathroom had hot water no matter what time of day and fresh towels every day. The room also has air con and heating and we used both due to the mixed weather while we were there. The breakfast was a buffet style and more than adequate to see you through the morning and most of the early afternoon with a choice of continental and/or English breakfast. A huge thanks to the night receptionist on our last day who whipped something up for us even though we had to check out earlier than the 8am breakfast start time. Considering it's position in the Old Quarter it wasn't as noisy as some previous reviews have suggested - maybe we just got lucky! The staff at The Old Quarter are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We loved the train style seating and it's closeness to the brilliant local bars and transport hubs - to get from the hotel to our actual seats at Ajax's ground took 50 minutes from door to door! Brilliant experience and we will definitely consider Hotel Old Quarter next time we are in Amsterdam. Thanks guys and see you soon! (Mark and Tony, Manchester, UK)

Nipped in for breakfast after getting tram into Amsterdam centre, sat in old train seats with the overhead racks. Breakfast average , help yourself buffet as much as you can eat. Both continental and English available, staff pleasant and friendly
