I could not recomend this exquisite establishment more highly enough, in fact I cannot understand how its rating is on Trip Advisor is only 28th in Amsterdam! After going back to compare with other B&B's on this site it surely belongs in the top few! I concur wholeheartedly with the praise in others comments. The quality of the furnishings, amentity,...

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was lovely. We had the canal room and it was spotlessly clean and very spacious. There was no skimping on facilities in the room - satellite tv, free use of the computer in the room (very handy as we were going to Paris and were able to book the Eiffel Tower from there),...

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Synopsis, and it couldn't have been better. We chose the Garden Room, and I am so glad we did. Our room opened up to a beautiful terrace. After a day of touring, we would sit on the terrace and enjoy a glass of wine. Our hostess, Elizabeth, is charming, and extremely knowledgeable about Amsterdam....

WOW - having been to Amsterdam four times now and staying in many different hotels and in many different locations - this property is a true gem. If you are looking for a charming, elegant, romantic, and central property in Amsterdam - this is it. The rooms are luxuriously and elegantly appointed. They are large as are the bathrooms with...

Stayed end June 2009 in the garden room. The hotel is well situated close enough to the main city centre attractions. Room was imaculate, large and well equiped. Mrs Witte was very helpful and made the stay special with lovely touches such as a welcome bottle of wine and chocolates. The garden was a bonus and made the room an...

Thanks to another traveler who mentioned this hotel, we decided to give it a try. We have been more than satisfied. It is extre,e;y clean, tastefully decorated, located on a canal, very unique, and there are bus lines nearby to take you anywhere you want to go. Elisabeth, who runs the hotel, gave us a map, and each day we consulted...

I've kept this review purely focused on the hotel. If you want more general information about Amsterdam and it's surroundings I highly recommend the 'The Rough Guide'. The Synopsis does not meet the description of an 'hotel' in the normal sense. It would be better described as an upmarket guesthouse, as it lacks all the usual facilities one might expect...

Honestly I chose this hotel after reading some TripAdvisor reviews, and the actual experience has been even better than what I was expecting at first. I will not add many details because a lot has been written already. I have traveled quite a lot for business, as well as for leisure, and I'd say I'm pretty fussy about hotels, especially...

My husband and I stayed at Synopsis for a weekend in January. The rooms have everything you could possibly need. There is a small kitchen area that closes to look like a closet - the fridge is stocked with snacks and drinks (some are free some you must pay for - very reasonable prices). There is a computer with free...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.

“Any rooms are good, but room 2 has a small separate table in the garden!”

“Only two rooms - front was basement but light and quiet, room 2 probably a better bet as leads on to garden and is away from the road.”

“We had a groundfloor room at the back ( No.2 ) , opening onto the garden - though sadly it was too cold to sit out there ! It was incredibly quiet and peaceful and the bed and bathroom were both superb.”
