Hotel Doria was in a fantastic central location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very simple but clean. Unfortunately the TV in the room did not work at all...tough we were not that bothered as there were far too many great things to occupy our time in Amsterdam! Bed was ok but my fiance found it too...

For the location and the price (£60 a night) this hotel can't be faulted, but, it reeked of pot and after a day wandering the streets of Amsterdam where I could smell that all day, it would have been nice to get away from it for the night. I thought the bedsheets and bed were unclean and actually left me...

I stayed at the Doria hotel recently and I would definitely recommend it to fellow travellers. Location is perfect , just off Dam Square , short walk to the RLD , 10 minute walk to Rembrandt Sq , 20 mins to Leidseplein ...good shops and pubs around the square .. Hotel id good value for a city centre hotel ....

Wonderful place to stay if you're looking for value for money and a fantastic location. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were small but had everything one needed and were clean. Excellent hotel I would go back anytime.

Super hotel, rooms very clean.Friendly staff, great location & and good breakfast. The only down side would be no coffee/tea making facilities in your room, but thats about it. Will go back to this hotel again as I have been to five others in the city and this is by far the best of them. Thanks to Doria for a great little gem!!

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
