An old and ancient hotel. But it's clean and nicely maintained. Use all items with care. Was given a room at first floor but needed to take 3 flights of spiral stairs up. It does have a tiny manual lift just enough for one person and a large luggage. But also use with care. The view is absolutely stunning. It...

This hotel was built in the 1600s so may not be for everyone. We stayed a week in the Rembrandt room and loved every quirk. This is a big comfortable room with lots of windows. The floors do slant as did one bed. Breakfast every morning was fresh juice coffee boiled egg cheese croissant and roll. We did not mind...

For us, Hotel Brouwer was great. The location was fantastic, about a 10 minute walk from the train station and the canal stop where you can catch the canal tour boats (we used the On-Off Boats as our transportation around town. The hotel is very historic. The steps are very, very steep. The rooms are old, but our bathroom was...

We appreciate your feedback and are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. The building dates from 1652 so steep stairs are hard to avoid; we do have a lift for all but 2 rooms. I wish we could control the occasional street noise; alas that is not possible but most guests still get a good night's sleep from what...

The rooms were very basic. The mattresses needed replacing and whilst there one of the legs of the bed fell off. The bedrooms need refurbishing. The staff just seemed to be "going through the motions" and not particularly interested in their guests. No credit cards accepted so payment by cash only. Only saving grace was the location. We thought Amsterdam...

Well positioned yes but that's it. Rooms dingy and need decorating. Radiator would not switch off turning bedroom into a sauna Lights failed three times. Laminate flooring peeling away Curtains too short allowing outside light into room. Shower room small and cramped with nylon shower curtain which clings Lift only takes one and the alternative is a narrow spiral staircase...

We are very sorry you found our hotel a disappointment. We acknowledge there are some minor upgrades needed; new owners will take over at the end of the year and carry them out.You cannot expect a big lift or big modern stairs in a building dating from 1652; most guests do not find that a problem. I politely disagree that...

Steeped in history, the Hotel Brouwer is a great place to stay whilst visiting Amsterdam. Its location on Singel Canal, in very easy walking distance to Central Station and the city centre is a draw card. The rooms with their sloping floors and low beams are not only comfortable, but have tremendous character. The breakfast served each morning is simple,...

This is fun place that is on a canal for a very reasonable price. There is an elevator (albeit very small but it gets your luggage upstairs, not common in Amsterdam.) It is also in walking distance of the train station and some of the best museums. Good food around there too. Our rom was spacious with a great view.

Near the central station, the Brouwer hotel its a nice option to stay at. The staff is quite nice and they serve a tasty breakfast until 10.30 am. Our views from the room were excellent and overall it's a clean hotel. Recommendable!

My wife and stayed 2 weeks ago for 2 nights. We were on the top floor facing the canal which was spectacular. We were in walking distance of great restaurants and with the I Amsterdam Card for the trolleys, we were 10 minutes from the great museums. The breakfast that was provided got us off to a full day of...

Amsterdam is eminently walk able, but in case you don't want to walk there are two tram stops within a couple of blocks of the hotel. It is in a scenic, central location. This hotel, which includes a traditional Dutch breakfast at a very reasonable rate, in an expensive city served my purposes well. My room, the HALS, was very...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
