We rented a canal boat through the Amsterdam House Hotel Eureka for two nights. The view was wonderful--water on three sides! The location was excellent and easy to access. Even though a heavy snow was falling, with heavy winds as well, the boat did not rock very much at all and we stayed warm with the heating. The boat fit...

I stayed there with my fiance and we just loved it!! The location is great, where you can go waking to almost everywhere. Choose a room with a view of the canal amstel. The decoration is lovely, the breakfast delicious and the reception very kind. The room was a bit small, but very good and the bed had a good...

We rented a well-equipped flat in the center of Amsterdam through this hotel. Initially there were some problems with the booking because they first confirmed another accomodation which later was not available. However, in the end they turned out to be fair on costs.

We stayed for one night in November 2006 and found this hotel to be ideal. It is a ten minute walk from the central station and just out of the way of the centre but close enough on foot ( 5 mins tom Dam square, ten minutes to the red light district) The rooms were small and basic but very clean and...

This was our first visit to Amsterdam, and we chose the Hotel Eureka based on generally favourable Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disapointed. Arriving mid-morning following an early start from home we were treated to a comlimentary coffee and slice of apple pie in the lounge (these personal touches mean a lot and this was typical of our stay). We...

My husband and I love to travel. We have visited many marvelous locations around the world. Nine years ago we drove from Berlin to Amsterdam and were looking for accomodations during Easter week. We hadn't made any reservations as we were traveling spontaneously. It was almost unfortunate as most hotels were booked, but then we happened upon Amsterdam House. Our...

The owner and staff speak English and are extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated only a few minutes walk from the Red Light District, the Museums and the markets. The hotel is an older historic building located directly on a canal, but it is clean and well-maintained. We would use this hotel again!

My husband and I stayed at this great little hotel for 2 nights, mid July 2006. We wish that we could have stayed longer.... so we are already planning to return as soon as we can ! We totally agree with the positive sentiments expressed by previous guests via this site. The staff were certainly very friendly and helpful. The...

We stayed at Eureka for three nights during a very hot stretch of weather in July. This was probably not the best time to stay here, particularly on the fourth floor. Needing to keep the windows open led to a lot of noise from the typical Amsterdam nightlife below. However, this hotel did give us an exceelnt base from which...

June is high season in Amsterdam and we were lucky to get a room, so I was happy with this choice. Run by 4 people, who you see at different times doing different things, the house is like a converted home. The rooms are small but personally decorated with wonderful views on the canal. A quiet spot, near the theatre,...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
