Can not say enough great things about this place. Stayed 3 nights in August 2015. Rooms are small but comfortable but you are on a quiet street in a nice part of Amsterdam, yet very close to the Jordan area and more touristy spots. Happy hour every night from 5-7pm was a great way to meet other guests and share...

We stayed 2 nights at Sunhead of 1617 and it was everything that the previous good reviews said is true. We got into town at 9am and Carlos welcomed us and let us leave our luggage so we could see the town right away. Carlos gave directions and suggestions for meals and things to see. Our room was at the...

We stayed at Sunhead for 3 days in July 2015. We were on the top floor in a delightful little room. The interior design was beautiful and tasteful. The location was ideal to see all the major sites. The hosts were so gracious and helpful in all ways. Each afternoon we were left wine and some small snacks. We also...

What a find! Our hosts were wonderful and so friendly - the owner was on holidays but his sister and niece were first class. We are inter railing around Europe for our honeymoon and are sure we will struggle to find a more welcoming place to stay! Although our room was small it had everything we needed... Iron, ironing board,...

We stayed three nights in this beautiful house. It's superbly located for everything Amsterdam has to offer with rooms overlooking the canal. No breakfast - but this is very clear on their website - but several great breakfast spots 2 minutes away. The owners were on holiday so we were left in the very capable hands of two relatives who...

Only two rooms but in a great location run by lovely people. No breakfast but a nearby cafe more than makes up for it. And they have Happy Hour at 5pm. Rooms are comfortable with everything needed to make your stay comfortable. You're really staying in their house but you have your own key and ready access. They let us...

First, the meaning of the title of this review. Sunhead is a bed and breakfast without the breakfast, which is okay because they make that very clear on their website and offer several suggestions for breakfast in the neighborhood. As Carlos, one of the owners, told us, after he turned 60, after more than 20 years in the business, he...

I booked Sunhead originally on the strength of previous reviews of its legendary breakfasts which alas are no more (but the booking was non-cancellable). It is perhaps expensive on the face of it for "just" an ensuite room, but then, Amsterdam is an expensive city and the Sunhead made up for this initial disappointment in many ways. Firstly, Carlos and...

We enjoyed the hospitality and ambiance of the Sunhead Hotel. It is located in a great spot close to restaurants and tourist sites. Carlos has a warm and engaging character which you see in the decor and ambience of the hotel. The only drawback are the steep stairs, which will not suit anyone with limited mobility. There was always an...

My wife and I recently stayed at Sunhead in Amsterdam... The place is situated in a very charming area on the Herrengracht (canal) in the Jordan district. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet with a view out over the canal. Although they do not provide a breakfast option any longer, the friendly hosts (Carlos & Rolff) were very...
