I stayed here in January and I got to say this hotel had the perfect location in the middle of everything.... the staff are friendly and yet the room was basic it was clean and the bed was very comfortable, guaranteed to get a good night sleep! I definitely will be coming back here next time I stay in Amsterdam!

Even if your are not a guest, you can still use the hotel lounge bar. Best place ever to have a real Amsterdam experience without having to queue for long time or don't find a place to seat and enjoy it. Nice food, Heineken pint, smoking area 🍃🚭and cools songs. On top of that, we can play pool and buy...

We are a couple in our 40s and stayed in a double room. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and despite the location and the fact it was full there were no problems with noise. The breakfasts are great and we chose to spend our evenings in the hotel bar over others in the area. Book early. We would definitely stay...

Needed a cheap place to rest our heads on a weekend trip to Amsterdam - this place looked perfect! Affordable, central and distinctive! In the red light district but a safe part where there are plenty of passing crowds. Close to the centre and train station. Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful and from all across the world. Rooms...

What an experience. Good music and vibe. Doesn't serve alcohol but then you don't go there to drink! Lovely coffee and staff are helpful. Felt very comfortable with my 2 travelling girlfriends. We sat on the canal side in the evening and visited the other bulldog cafe in the day. It's a really good atmosphere. I've visited Amsterdam twice this...

We stayed as a group of 4 girls for 2 nights in the Bulldog hotel in their twin rooms. The rooms were spacious, beds were so comfortable and the security of the hostel is great. Unfortunately as we were waiting around to leave for the airport, we went to play some pool (which you had to pay for) in the...

Hi , Well, I am glad the hostel was ok and you got a good sleep! It really sucks when one small moment puts a damper on a trip. I am sure we could do a better job of informing the guests about our policy. I think your last sentence sums it up well. We will absolutely be speaking with...

This hostel is really good for young people travelling on a budget. The beds are a little small but the rooms are clean and you get exactly what you pay for. Situated in a really good location it's easily walkable to many areas in Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this and would probably stay here again if ever in Amsterdam...

We arrived at the bulldog and it was National Weed Day, from the moment we arrived we felt like family. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. We were a party of 23 older and younger ladies on a hen weekend so as you can imagine it was a bit noisy at times, At no time did we feel unwanted. The...

Stayed in a triple room as part of a group with the rest in one of the dorms. The bets part of this is the location; we were in walking distance (less than ten minutes) of everything we were planning to do. The rooms are pretty basic with beds, a desk and some wardrobe space. and if you are not...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
