This hostels have the best things that I place needs to enjoy the journey: good breakfast, good music in the bar, and everyone respect each other. I really recommend it! If you need some recommendations from the receptionist, they explain everything and help you to have a amazing trip ;)

I booked a room for myself for 3 nights which came to roughly €300. This hotel is in a superb location. The ground floor is always open even when the city is all closed down in the early hours of the morning. You can smoke and drink into the AM listening to great music they play and there's pool table....

Very kind of you to say. if your room is really dirty, need fresh towels or the bins emptying, just let the front desk know Cheers!

Good location, comfortable bed and friendly front desk staff. Walking distance to plenty of restaurants and bars. Walking distance from the train station. Not a bad place. I was lucky to share a room with easy-going travelers that kept to themselves. Only thing that was weird for me getting a condom at check out.

The Bulldog is awesome, I couldn't have asked for a cooler experience. The rooms are nice and clean and the lobby and bar/smoke lounge are awesome. The decor and atmosphere create a really unique ambiance, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was in a central location. You are able to walk to most places within 30 min.

The bulldog is a great place to stay as it has the bar downstairs which served pretty good food and allowed for the the culture of Amsterdam to be taken in with style. They do a great pint of Heineken 👍🏻

This is a great place to come and escape the hustle and bustle of the Dam, and just chill!!! We visited with a group of friends and it was the sort of place you could stay the whole evening... there's a great bar, some decent bar food, good music, and it's well staffed. It helped set us up for an...

Doorman was really nice, good atmosphere average priced drinks, it's a decent place to just go and relax while drinking and smoking, next time I go to dam il definitely consider staying here, a major factor being how polite the staff are compare to a lot of places in Amsterdam

Well, it's a hostel with a smoking-coffee shop downstairs, and some kind of iconic brand place. Quite touristry though but fair enough start for the fun-looking people. Quite more expensive than average for my taste but if it's your first time in the city it's ok.

Thank you for the review. I am sure if you are to do a quick search, you will find us very competitively priced. I think you will find other hostels at a very similar price but I am sure you will also find things, like taxes added, no free breakfast or luggage storage. it is for these reasons that we...

We had booked a canal view room (with ensuite bathroom) at the Bulldog hotel for 5 days. The stay started well, however on the first night at 3 am while we were in deep sleep - some jerk in another room on our floor left his bathroom door open while showering with hot water, and hence caused the SUPER LOUD...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
