We stayed here for 1 night and will definitely be back. Room was absolutley spotless, just a little bit small thats all. Breakfast was good enough - continental style. Excellent location with great tram links. If you want something thats reasobably priced and confortable and you dont mind it being small, this is the place for you!

When I stayed at this hotel over three nights, there were a lot of renovations taking place and there was no bar or reception, just a tiny table acting as one. We arrived very early and were cheerfully waved in and allowed to checkin nearly two hours before time. I was happiest then! The room was not as small as...

Very friendly staff/reception but... Very basic accommodation with hardly any space to move, thin walls so very noisy, very basic breakfast (quick cleaning of the tables though) and the price... far from reasonable even for the location..... (not for disabled guests)

Arriving at Schipol Airport you can catch a 197 bus for four euros and a two minutes walk from The Poet Hotel.A steep flight of stairs greets you at the Poet Hotel but this is something you have to get used to in many buildings in Amsterdam. The reception staff are helpful and businesslike and there is a quick check in.Luckily...

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at this Hotel as part of a mini-break booked through DFDS. We opted for this hotel as it was cheapest and all we were looking for was a comfortable bed to rest in between 2 days exploring the city. When we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised as the room was amazing! With artwork and...

The hotel was OK, but nothing more. Good location, quite area. The people that worked there were profesional, but I never felt that we were "seen". The room was kleen enough, but I think they could have done better if they tried. Worst downside: We had paid a return ticket with the Airport shuttle that stops by the hotel. Showed...

The Poet Hotel is in a great location, right by the museums and with a tram stop at the end of the road so you can easily make the short journey into the centre. The road the hotel's on is quiet but you're only a short walk away from shops, bars and sights. The hotel itself was lovely - the...

I've recently returned from a 4 night stay in Amsterdam and found this hotel to be one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The room we got was a double, but it was tiny. We were constantly tripping over each other and one of us had to be next to a wall so couldn't get up in the...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Max Brown Museum Square settles down at the Museum Square, known by locals as the central hub of the city. Location is everything in a city like Amsterdam and the Museum Square, located South of the old city, has it al. You are just a block away from the world famous Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum and Rijksmuseum, escape outdoors to the Vondelpark where you can join locals for a lovely Picnic or go for some high end shopping in the PC Hooftstraat, van Baerlestraart and Beethovenstraat. The Museum Quarter (the neighbourhood around the Museum Square) is, despite all its touristic attractions, largely a residential neighbourhood with tree-lined streets and gorgeous 19th-century architecture. ... more   less
