This place is in an ideal location- it's just a short walk to the touristy stuff, but the hotel itself is in a nice quiet area, with great views overlooking the canal. The staff are super helpful and friendly! Breakfast is basic but filling, and the breakfast room itself is bright and cheerful. The rooms are small but clean and...

We recently spent 8 nights here. The steps may be steep but the location can't be beat. Our room was clean, the shower was hot and plentiful and the bed was comfortable. The morning breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. We explored many different neighborhoods on foot or by tram. Tony is a great breakfast host,...

If you want a place to call home at the end of a fun filled day in Amsterdam, then this is the spot. Sure the stairs are steep and the rooms small, but hey, this is Amsterdam. By day 2 we were flying up and down the staircase. Tony is the man; a very informative, respectful, conscientious and sweet. The...

We received a very warm welcome from the gentleman at reception , he was extremely helpful and showing us the places of interest on the map which he provided . We booked a double room and were...

We enjoyed our four day stay at Hotel Hoksbergen. Our room was small but clean and faced the canal. The stairs were steep but the staff offered to help us with our luggage. Breakfast was very good and contained a lot of choices. The WiFi signal was strong in the room. The staff was very helpful and provided us with...

This hotel is right beside everything you need. Most of the tourist attractions and Dam Square are within walking distance and it is also close to the trams. It only took about 20/25 minutes to get to the airport by tram and train. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops nearby and the river outside the hotel is lovely to...

Great spot on the Singel canal. Very friendly and helpful people at breakfast and check in. Room was clean, comfortable and compact. Lots of ship-ladder style stairs and no elevator, so prepare for that. Especially for the price, I will definitely return to this neat small hotel.

Enjoyed our stay here, staff was helpful and the breakfast was great. Pack light for this hotel, our third floor room was a bit of a challenge to reach with our luggage. Lots of great options for eating nearby. Quiet area and we slept well. Reminder; your in a row house so rooms are small yet still comfy, safe travels!

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our small hotel is situated in a beautiful canal-house that is over 300 years old, nestled on the quiet, picturesque Singel, the oldest of the four major ring canals in Amsterdam's famed inner city. Our cosy hotel offers an oasis right in the centre of town. The hustle and bustle of the shopping streets around Dam Square, the charm of the myriad canals lined with 17th-century houses and world famous sights, such as the Anne Frank House, are all literally steps away. There are also convenient trams and other public transport options to whisk you off to all of the city's many attractions. Room information: the hotel offers 13 double and single rooms and one triple room. We serve a good continental breakfast-buffet in our light and pleasant breakfast room. Rooms are ready for check in at 14.00 o'clock. If you arrive earlier we can store your luggage until then. We look forward to have you as our guests! ... more   less
