This is an excellent short break hotel.Don,t expect luxury you are not going to get it,for that in a city you will pay much more than here. You will get a good clean hotel with friendly multilingual staff,a decent continental breakfast, take as much as you want including hot drinks,Room choices are varied. We had the apartment for five adults and a...

The A-Train Hotel was very basic and at first this was a tad disappointing. I came with a friend and on arrival found out they had got our room wrong so we had a double bed instead of two singles, and had to pay a city tax which we were unaware of. Obviously this was not the best start but...

Very good location, nice staff but the rooms are little run down and very basic for a 3* not the same Standard as other 3* hotels in Amsterdam, ie hotel France. The breakfast was not very good as well, just some bread, cheese, ham and cornflakes. The orange juice was more like coloured water and you had to pay for...

A hidden gem, stayed in October 2012. Very close to the train station, convienent. Close to the city center. Good buffet breakfast, great accomodations, and clean rooms. TV with english stations and free internet in the lobby. Friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Amsterdam.

It's very great because it's very big area. The room was clean every day. And also the hotel's location is very good. The hotel is situated close to Amsterdam...

We stayed at the A-Train hotel for three nights earlier this month, and to be honest there wasn't much to fault. It is unique - I've never seen more train paraphernalia in a dining room before, and the photos are wonderful. Taken by Dutch photographer Hans Steeneken who sadly died this year, and awaiting someone to publish a book of...

My husband and I stayed here 10/11/12-10/15/12. We stayed in the Old Dutch Suite. We loved our room, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect. There are unbrellas you can borrow. We also borrowed an adapter for my cell during our stay. There is one computer you can use for free. It was usually...

I've encountered problem upon checked-in to the hotel. Please don't get me wrong, not hotel fault, it was travel agent whose failed to inform hotel regarding my reservation. (It was later explained as duplicate booking or so on...) Mr Jos was very friendly and helpful. He asked me not to worry, he has room for me. He said he will...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
