Warm, clean, friendly, great breakfast, well located on leafy street next to Rijksmuseum. Spacious comfortable room in grand 1900 house. Modern clean spacious bathroom with powerful shower over bath. It 's not a boutique hotel and no period features survive in the decor but everything you need is there including some nice touches like nespresso machine in room, free wi-...

My wife and I just spent three nights at Hotel Fita on November 10-12, and look forward to returning soon. We basically agree with all of the positive reviews, and would just like to confirm a few of the other reviewers’ compliments. First, we were warmly greeted by Roel, Martijn and Ria who are exceptionally charming, cheerful and caring hosts...

Very nice place located close to main museums like Van gogh one. Good for couples as quiet area but still in center and also close to the best/the most expensive shops in Amsterdam. Couldnt complain about breakfast as well and those wonderfull pancakes :) The only disadvantage of my room was so called double bed which in fact were 2...

I traveled with my friends and we found this place very friendly and good value. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Rooms are clean and breakfast is small, but tasty. And THE PANCAKES are delicious. Not a luxury, but cosy place to stay!

What makes this hotel special is the people,Roel,Martijn,Ria and the Fita team! All of the other reviews highlight the spaciousness of the rooms, cleanliness and excellent location with which I hardily agree. The bathroom is huge by european standards, lots of hot water and great water pressure. Anyone who gets up at 6:00 to make me breakfast is a hero and...

We stayed 19th and 20th Nov guided by the good reviews here. They were more than accurate. Perfect location and run by a lovely family who made us so welcome as guests not customers. Hope to be back in the summer

Just to agree with what everyone else has said, the Hotel Fita is a wonderful hotel in a great part of Amsterdam. It's only a few blocks from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, and a very quick walk to the Leidseplein and the center of town. It's a pretty bare bones hotel with simple but comfortable furnishings. We...

I stayed here for 3 nights in November 2011. I was in a single room that was like a tiny dorm room, but bathroom ensuite, and what more do you need? It's very convenient to the trams to central Amsterdam and the train station, and a 4 Euro bus ride to the airport that the staff steered me to instead...

We stayed here for around 6 days in the month of October 2011. The hotel in located very close to the Rijks and the Van Gogh Museums. Both are within walking distance. Public transport is very close by and there is a supermarket also quite close. The hotel rooms are clean and simple ( I would recommend staying in the...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
