We had a great stay at the family-run Hotel Fita. As others have mentioned, the location vis-a-vis museums and the tram is very convenient, but it is also a very calm area. We really appreciated the warm welcome from the owner Roel and then the welcome drinks delivered by his mother shortly after we checked in. Roel provided a really...

We arrived at the hotel on 29th May and were ushered into the hotel by the owner, Roel. We were told the rooms were ready as soon as we stepped into the premise. The rooms we had were spacious, clean and it comes with a balcony where you could enjoy the scenic view of the streets. Shopping streets are a...

Hotel FITA has a great location and so much more. Within a a few blocks of the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Concertgebouw, Vondelpark, and new Stedelijk Museum as well as major tram lines and some excellent restaurants, the hotel is in an area that most travelers will visit; but it is outside of the hectic, crowded Leidesplein and Dam Square...

We were a group of 8 (3 couples and 2 singles). From the moment we arrived we were welcomed like family. the family operates the hotel directly with some support staff. We were a small block from the VanGogh and were able to get tickets directly at the Fita. It is perfect walking distance even to the Anne Frank museum...

Hotel Fita is owned and managed as a family business and their approach to customer care puts most other hotels to shame. Nothing was too much trouble for Roel, Martijn and Ria and any requests were dealt with promptly and most courteously. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well furnished. The inclusive breakfast was exceptional offering hot and cold choices...

This small, family-run hotel is in the perfect location, one street over from the uber fancy shopping street, a block from the Van Gogh Museum, two blocks from the Rijks, Vondel Park, Hop-On Hop-Off bus, tram, Diamond Museum, grocery store, and Concertgebouw. We have difficulty walking, but it was an easy stroll to all the restaurants and night life of...

Our room was so clean I think we could have ate off of the floor! The pancakes are to die for! Queenie brought a delicious sparkling wine & nuts to our room after we checked in. The hotel is in walking distance of the museums & canals. Queenie, Roal & Martin were very sweet & helpful. My only complaint is...

This small hotel run by family (two brothers with help from others) is in a quiet location close to shopping and two major museums with easy access to trams. They have a great breakfast (ask for a pancake) and a "trust" bar where you can pick up a few items (drinks, snacks) and have them charged to your room later....

Hotel Fita is just a stroll from the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. We stayed for four nights in May in a Type A room, which was very clean and comfortable with reasonable facilities. There was a real feeling of a small family-run hotel offering a superior welcome. The staff were very helpful even before we arrived with tips about...

I think this was the tiniest elevator I have ever seen, so if you are prone to claustrophobia you won't want to go in there. Do put your luggage in there because the stairs are very dangerous; steep, narrow and windy. Because I was on the second floor I had to walk two flights each time I went to my...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
