We stayed here for 2 nights when our flight with easyjet was cancelled, if you are looking for a simple basic hotel to crash after a days exploring this is the place, we had a double room, small en suite bathroom with TV and free wifi. The bed was comfy, there is a bar on board and just opposite Botel we found a lovely restaurant for dinner called Pollux (another boat). Only thing I wished was that there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

This is a cheap no thrills accommodation on the North bank of Amsterdam accessed from Central Station by the free F4 ferry every 30 minutes.
The hotel is a moored boat hence the comical name. It’s novel but quite basic.
We had a quad room which consisted of bunk beds and a small shower/toilet room.
There is a 24 hour reception, bar and roof top bar. Basic breakfasts are served at €12 at the time of writing this.
There are also a couple of other bars and restaurants near by.
We only wanted base to sleep and wash while in Amsterdam and this hotel served its purpose.
The room did get very hot so we needed to open the window and then due to its location there is a lot of outside noise.

I personally loved the novelty factor of staying in a floating hotel. The hotel itself has a bar in the common area which serves reasonable priced drinks. The rooms are below reception and there is a lift but we preferred to use the stairs. Room was ok size wise and the bed was comfy. It has an opening window which you could reach out and almost touch the water. The biggest problem was the shower. It was the shittest shower i have ever used. I ended up not bothering with the shower curtain and making it a wet floor shower. Breakfast was ok, the usual meat cheese salad etc. The location was pretty good, there’s a free ferry straight to the centraal station. You get what you pay for.

Me and my husband came for 3 nights, mixed reviews had me dreading if it was as bad as some people say or great value for a budget room as others describe. I requested a double bed beforehand which i was pleased to see had been allocated when we checked in! The rooms were I'm fact super clean. For the woman below moaning she's not snobby but it's not clean- I'll just say now I run a cleaning company in Bristol, so to me if I think it was in an acceptable clean state. Then I don't think others will have a problem. I booked here as it was alot cheaper for a close to central Amsterdam location compared to some hotels and I knew only me and my husband (without our kids, probably wouldn't bring kids here) would hardly be in the room but more of a base. So at €189 for 3 nights this was a bargain! As others have said the free ferry takes 10 minutes from outside the central train station. The ferry seems to be no more than a 10 minute wait at any given time. Yes, the bathrooms small, yes the boat sways now and again, yes the walls are paper thin to the point you can here the next rooms mobile phone vibrating......but overall there was nothing wrong with the Botel whatsoever. They make up your bed every day and a change of towels if needed. People who complain should get a grip and put their hands in their pockets to shell out that extra of you want 5star!!

The only thing I can say to you is this: if you like things to be clean (not in a snobby way, in a bog standard “there shouldn’t be mould in the windowsills and grime in the shower” kind of way) never book this hotel. There was grease on the bathroom shelf and hair in the shower. The carpets looked like they housed every foot fungus known to man. The windows were dirty to touch on the inside (you could wipe it away and see where you’ve wiped). This hotel was, in fact, so horrible that we tried to be refunded but the women who worked at the desk either lied to us about having other rooms to give us (there were ones up online for bookings), shouted at us or just told us that it wasn’t their problem. Management was equally as foul as the room. I nearly whacked one of the women at the desk for the way she shouted at my partner, who has social anxiety and kept trying to fight her corner even though the woman shouted over her. NEVER STAY HERE. We didn’t even stay the night. Are going to look into it with our credit card company and spent the first full day of our holiday searching for another hotel (which we found and we’re finally in by midnight). Loads of fuss, extra expense, but well worth it for a bed that doesn’t make you itch at the sight of it and a bathroom so small you can barely turn around.
More issues I didn’t list:
The surfaces were sticky.
They originally gave us a twin room.
There’s mould in the grouting in the bathrooms.
The cracks and crevices are thick with dust.
The ceiling tiles are loose and starting to fall through.
There were damp stains up the walls in our first room.
They didn’t give us a second room until an hour into us bugging them about getting us a new one because the room smelt so heavily of disgusting chemicals that it made me vomit. Twice. I was only in the room for 15minutes or so.
All the rooms smelt like that though.
When we attempted to offer to pay for an upgrade they lied and said there was no space despite the fact that the rooms could still be booked online.
All round, a very disappointing experience which nearly ruined the whole trip. Lost a whole day of what has now turned into an expensive holiday.
The desk staff I spoke to need to grow up and learn a thing or two about customer service (coming from someone who works in customer service themselves).

We stayed here for one night during our in country holiday. The hotel was not expensive we paid around 60 euro for 2 adults and 1 toddler including breakfast.

Positive: the location was perfect. It is near the Amsterdam marina and you have sail boats as the view. We enjoyed the sunset view from the deck. The free ferry to amsterdam central station is within 3 min walking distance.

Negative: the carpet in the room has damp odor and the room does not have any ventilation system. We had to open the window and room door to get the air flowing. The drain in the shower does not work very well and the water stayed for 5 minutes before it gets dry.

I had booked a loft room for a partners birthday, they looked like fun with the views of the water and funky interiors, however on arrival we were soon faced with the reality which was far from the photos on the site. The room was smelly, like mould and it was extremely cold like nobody had stayed in there for some time and the heating was completely off. We went to reception to ask if something could be done. Furthermore the room was dirty, the bed full of hairs, the walls were cracked and the doors/ windows left drafts whistle in was was not only loud but also extremely cold. Probably the worst thing was the huge amounts of rust around the bath which was horrendous.
The trip was ruined by the poor quality of the accommodation and the lack of care from the staff. Needless to say we checked out after the first awful nights sleep (or lack of) and moved to another hotel. The hotel and booking agent did nothing to rectify this and we were charged the whole fee for both nights and did not get any refund whatsoever. Please see photos of the room.

The worst place I have ever stayed and all in all a complete waste of money.

First of all I must say, the customer service before we arrived was amazing at the Botel. This is why I have given 4/5. We were unable to travel before Christmas when we had originally booked due to illness, and they moved our booking at no extra charge, for which we are extremely grateful. We were booked in as a single room on arrival, but this was solved with no problems.

The rooms are extremely basic and the walls are VERY thin, you can hear everything your neighbours are doing/saying. Bed was comfy enough although the shelf mid head rest is very annoying. Also, the bathroom is tiny. The whole place is very old fashioned and smells musty. Breakfast was okay, we enjoyed the pastries and juice.

Good location, the free ferry is a really good system and we didn't have any issues staying out late or anything! As I say the reason the reason for the high score is purely due to the excellent customer service we received, the actual hotel is average, but in reality we were hardly there, and we slept well so its not all bad. Can't say I would stay here again, but absolutely loved our time in Amsterdam!

I think the Hotel is less a 3 star and more a 2 star but it's not without it's plus points.
Positively it has a lovely outside deck at the top which is also available for those who wish to smoke even Amsetrdam style! The free boat trip takes you from Amsterdam Central Station to the Botel and it runs every half hour from early till late 1.30am last ferry.
The onsite bar is very friendly in our experience and it also has a pool table.
On the negavive side we found our sheets a little grubby and the headboard was a nightmare especially when your head gets stuck between it and the bed.
We had pre paid for breakfast which hadn't been registered properly and we found that a little uneasy. Furthermore the breakfast wasn't great with exception of the Croissants which were excellent. (probably came from the local bakery/cafe a few yards away, excellent cafe!)
Not impressed with the attitude of the blonde lady at reception on the morning of February 4th, 2020. Very unlike the Dutch friendliness I know.

The botel Amsterdam was absolutely perfect for us. We originally planned to check in on the 1st Sep but unfortunately our flight changed and we didn’t arrive until the 2nd. When we phoned to let the reception know, she was friendly and made sure our room was kept for us until we arrived, which it was. The room is basic, if you want extras you can get them at reception (like hairdryers and extra pillows for a little cost). We did however have a lovely view. The reception is happy to help and offers maps and tour leaflets. The best part about this hotel is the location, we got the train from the airport and then right outside Amsterdam Central there is a ferry that runs every 15 minutes directly to the Botel. The ferries are also free which was amazing as we used it to get to and from Amsterdam centre and Adam’s lookout attraction. If you’re looking for something simple, affordable and easy this is 10/10.
