A short walk from Centraal Station, this clean and tidy hotel is ideal for exploring Amsterdam. The entrance is down steps, which may be a problem for those with mobility issues, however each floor was reached by a lift, which is unusual in older style properties in Amsterdam. Current works on the Canal are out of the control of the...

We enjoyed our stay at the Singel Hotel. After our flight in and train ride to Centraal Station after dark, we had no trouble finding our way to the hotel only 3 blocks away. The hotel is in a convenient location to trams, trains, the metro and buses about 3 blocks away, which enabled us to get pretty much anywhere...

Staff were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. Felt very comfortable there. Room was small but perfect for one person for a short stay. Room was very Clean and was cleaned everyday. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that... I will stay here again as the staff are so nice (especially Ellis) and it has the perfect location. The...

We had stayed at the Singel hotel before and liked it. Last February we booked it again, leaving in TWO days and they sent us an email that "our room will be under construction" so they booked us in another hotel whose reciews are terrible. We called them but they would not accommodate us, but I found that other reservation...

This hotel is in a great location on the singles canal a short walk to train station. Great staff and always somebody on reception nothing is too much trouble. Each member of staff we met was always polite and glad to have a little chat on what we have done that day. The room needs a little updating but the...

Great hotel in great location. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious for European standards. Our room was nice and quiet too! They have little touches such as courtesy umbrellas that came in handy for rainy days. We also loved the Nespresso machine in our room which we took full advantage of in the morning. Our room had a nice view...

There was not a single bad word that could be said about this hotel. The location is perfect, slightly away from the hustle and bustle but literally a 5 minute walk from where you need to be. It is a 5/10 minute walk from Centraal Station. The staff were very helpful in suggesting places for us to go. Our room...

First time staying at this hotel was perfect value for 3 nights but on arrival after stating in notes for a early check in I was unable to get into a room till after 2pm leaving me and my friend to do some early morning/afternoon touring in the rain. This isn't the reason for a low score as I understand...

I visited Amsterdam in May 2011. The hotels price in Amsterdam was expensive, if near station, over Euro 100, but only 2 stars, If price is fair, it would be far away from station or city centre. Singel was located near Central Station (10 min walk) and at a quiet street along canal, it is easily found and with fair...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
