We arrived on 16th Jan, the taxi took us down some backstreet and the hotel was there. First impressions were that the hotel was nice and presentable. After half an hour being checked in, we were given room 14 on the ground floor. Walked into the room, which was a large room - however, both windows were smashed (photos attached)....

Young boy on desk very smart and sarcastic when we couldn't get our room key to work . Said it was our fault we had it too close to our mobile phones? Also asked one girl for 2 cups of ice and made it out to be a task .Not one member of staff smiled in the 4 whole days...

I've booked a double room, I paid a very high price and I was given a mini room with separate beds. Everything was dirty: beds, moquettes, bathroom and so on. I've requested two more blankets as penguins would lived perfectly in my room, and I was given two white blankets with huge yellow spots (don't know what was that). I...

Stayed in a single room for a period of 4 days, room was tidy and enough for 1 person, cheap price in the most central location. Breakfast was your average continental, nothing special. Added bonus of being able to leave your luggage after you check out if you are leaving later in the afternoon.

We stayed for the weekend in the hotel with a family in January 2017 staying in 2 rooms. The hotel is located in a very noisy area, we couldn't sleep almost the whole night, as there were 2 big coffee shops in the area which remained open until 3 am. The hotel itself is very outdated and needs urgent refurbishment,...

The room was very noisy and there was a foul drainage smell in the corridors. Very unhelpful staff member at reception and also try to charge for late check out. The only good thing is the central location and housekeeping staff.

We went for a 30th Birthday and having been to Dam before we had seen this place and knew it was right in the centre of everything which is what we needed. I had a ground floor room and it was spacious and our bathroom was very big and sapcious too. As this was a birthday trip with loads of...

The hotel is situated in a great spot - the room was clean and comfortable, though as others have said, it has a tendency to get loud at night time. There is also a church very close and the bells are quite loud and frequent! For us however, the location was well worth putting up with it.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
