The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring both the north and south of the the city, in an attractive setting and in a safe and relaxed area. After reading about the small size of some of the rooms we selected a deluxe double (third floor) and enjoyed both the view of the canal, the lack of noise and the extra...

This is an easy to overlook accommodation as it is not big and flashy. The hotel is 5 houses that have been combined to form a hotel. Because of this you may take a circuitous route to your room. I think it adds to the charm and fun. Staff is excellent and helpful. The room was very nice, had a...

Ambassade Hotel is one of these special places you should not miss. So well located, nice and quiet rooms, frlendly staff. For one night I felt as a very special guest of Amsterdam. I would really recommend to stay in this small and nice hotel. The hotel has also good facilities to hold meetings. We had the opportunity to arrange...

This boutique hotel is faultless. Fantastic service and splendid surroundings. It's right in the centre of Amsterdam, within walking distance of most major attractions. The hotel is made up of lots of old houses and is in a very quiet street overlooking the canal. The Brasserie is great, delicious food at reasonable prices. All the staff are charming. To be...

I am in Amsterdam on a regular basis and have stayed in many different hotels/apartments etc. In the end I keep going back to the Ambassade. It's really well located, the rooms are all different and well decorated. The common areas - library etc provide great spots to hang out. The breakfast will knock your socks off. While they don't...

Nice little hotel with very friendly service and beautiful rooms. We only went to the Brasserie for breakfast but also enjoyed the view on the canal. The buffet was nice but could may be a little more classy. Piles of yoghurt from the supermarket are not exactly what I expect to see... All in all great experience, friendly service just...

We stayed in the Ambassade hotel for 2 nights and we were not disappointed. The hotel is extremely well-located in a beautiful setting overlooking the canals and close to all the tourist attractions. It is walking distance to pretty much anywhere you want to go in Amsterdam. We had a room over looking the canal which was lovely. However, we...

I've stayed at two hotels in Amsterdam (Ambassade Hotel and Hotel L'Europe; both good), and I've visited/researched many others over the course of my trips there. Ambassade Hotel is my favorite, there's something really special about staying in the canal area. Walking "home" from a day of shopping or nice Dutch dinner through the charming canals, and arriving at a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
