We stayed just one night in the superior suite at the top of the hotel. Two rooms on two floors. It was beautifil, very comfortable and well appointed. If I would have a little gripe it was the bizarre lay out bathroom - the toilet right by the door and the shower, with a low sloping ceiling opposite. The rest... More

Thank you for your contribution to tripadvisor, Sir. It is certainly good to know you enjoyed your visit to the Ambassade Hotel and we do very much appreciate you complimenting our staff. Sorry to read about your slight discomfort with the bathroom, it was not easy to fit in all the facilities that are required, when this top-floor suite was... More

We stayed here for two nights in late November. The hotel is extremely well-located, overlooking the canals and close to all the spots. It is walking distance to pretty much anywhere you want to go in Amsterdam. The room was lovely and we got a room with a view of the canals. Both the bedroom and the bathroom was spacious.... More

Our first time in Amsterdam. Booked the Ambassade Hotel, and little did we know how this move would be the icing on the cake of a wonderful 24 hours in the city. The hotel put us in a warm and welcoming suite, looked after our every need, couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and... More

We stayed there for five days in October and really enjoyed the hotel. The hotel was beautiful and the staff top-notch. We enjoyed a daily cocktail in the library. I recommend asking for a room by the elevator because some of the other rooms are hard to access.

The hotel itself is lovely and in a great location. But what makes this a cut above the rest is the staff. ALL of the staff are friendly, helpful and couldn't do anything more for you, honestly they were fabulous. This hotel really exceeds in customer service - fantastic. A big thank you to all the staff.

We have booked a family room from Dec 1 to 5. Upon arrival, we were being upgraded to a one room apartment which gave us more space for a family of 4. Good location and near to all the attractions Excellent service given by the hotel staff Will definitely return to this hotel

The apartment was really big; it was a loft under a roof, with a main living room on the first floor and a large and nice bedroom and large cosy bathroom with one shower and one bathtub on the second floor. The view on the singel canal was really nice. Would have liked to stay more.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
