Me and my husband have just spent 7 great nights at this lovely hotel, we were on the 2nd floor in the main part of the hotel with a view of the canal, it was a deluxe room and it was very spacious. Lots of cupboard and drawer space, a large ornate mirror and a great comfy bed which was...

I love this hotel, and stay here every time I come to Amsterdam (if not staying with friends), a great small hotel, friendly, with a great modern book lined bar. The beds are comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful, highly recommended. I wish more hotels were more like this one!

We could not have chosen a better hotel for our first visit to Amsterdam. The location was ideal for exploring this beautiful city. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful, our room was very comfortable, the breakfasts excellent, and dinner in the Brasserie our first night was a perfect start to a very enjoyable stay.

The look on my Granddaughter's face when she saw the hotel room would tell it all. We entered though the little adjoining room that was hers. The light blue and white is just as it is pictured in the hotel's site, but being able to see up into the height of the eaves gives the rooms an even larger appearance....

Wonderful location along the beautiful Herengracht canal. The rooms are elegant but as with most city hotels, somewhat compact. The public rooms are also very tastefully furnished. As this is not a buiness hotel it maintains a relaxed and gentile atmosphere. The staff were all friendly, helpful and charming.

We spent 5 nights in the apartment on Singel, owned by the hotel. The apartment is grand although an older style property with a very small bathroom (immaculately clean). It does make you feel like a local. Breakfast at the hotel proper overlooking the canal was fabulous. Dinner in the restaurant didn't quite hit the mark food-wise, but we were...

The hotel has canals on both sides, so nice and quiet, but well-placed for using the trams to reach the main attractions and the railway station. Our room on the second floor was a good size, elegantly furnished with plenty of wardrobe space. The breakfast selection was good - fresh fruit, excellent cold selection and eggs cooked to order. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
