Not used to writing reviews but felt compelled to after a wonderful mid-week stay in the Ambassade. Room was stunning and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The location is perfect with lovely streets filled with a variety of shops, bars and cafe's in close proximity. Will definitely return

This is an outstanding hotel. The staff are superlative and the rooms are elegant and comfortable. I needed advice on a day trip to The Hague and they provided the perfect contact. You will love the library, the art and the great location. I give this hotel 7 stars!

The Ambassade hotel is a very special place, in one of the best locations in Amsterdam. Rooms are very individual with many overlooking both the Herengracht and Singel canals. A real gem, beautifully renovated. All the staff without exception offer a friendly and professional service. The chef and his team have made the Brasserie a lovely place to dine if...

Great room with a fab view. Perfect for a young couple and older alike. Hotel had a modern yet library feel and staff were very accommodating. Great value and would highly recommend as centrally located to main sites. Would do the breakfast and dinner at least once as they are something special. Enjoy

Easily one of the best hotels I have stayed at in a very long time. The staff were lovely and upgraded us to the senior suite with a canal view. It has a very zen vibe despite its central location. We travelled with a group of six and booked three double rooms. Each room was completely different so it didn't...

The Ambassade Hotel In Amsterdam is a true gem. Four thousand books, all signed by the authors, who have all stayed at the Ambassade Hotel, line the library, which doubles as a bar so you can sit and muse to your heart's content. The rooms are small yet quaint and quirky in that Amsterdam way. Many look out straight onto...

Beautiful clean and quirky hotel with a great location, I would recommend breakfast too, first class. The staff are very attentive and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble, not the cheapest option but certainly value for money.

I wanted a comfortable hotel by a canal. This does not do the Ambassade justice! As soon as you arrive you know you have found somewhere special. The staff have created a very professional, friendly atmosphere. The facilities are excellent, the room was brilliant very comfortable we were at the front with a view of the canal, really lovely. I have stayed at Ambassade for four nights and it was magical. The room was lovely and homey. The entire facility was welcoming and warm. The location is great. It is quite and near a canal and still very close to everything you can think of. I will definitely return to this hotel in any future visit to Amsterdam.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
