Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam is a very nice hotel. Staff is extremely professional and service-minded, and the location is great. Short walk from the city center. Beautiful little bar and a very satisfying breakfast with anything you could want. Lovely, bright business class room overlooking a calm alley without nightclubs/windows. I will definitively stay here the next time I am...

I had a nice weekend's stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam, located within a reasonable walk of some of Amsterdam's finest sites. Parking is rather difficult--without making a prior reservation, you'll not be able to park in one of about a dozen spots available at the property. The nearest public parking is about a ten-minute walk and offers the...

Stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well-located close to the canals, red-light district and main shopping areas. The room is well-equipped and comfortable with interesting decor (including Amsterdam-themed wall plates and carpet). Located in a quite area but still close to lots of restaurants and shops. Staff were inviting and friendly. Only downside was that the...

I brought my boyfriend to Amsterdam as a birthday surprise and choose this hotel because of it's central location. I also mentioned to them that it was a special occassion at booking and they upgraded us and left a little gift in the room. We arrived early but were able to check in and they held our bags for us...

My husband and I stayed there in October for 4 nights. Everything was delightful. The location was great. Short walk to Dam Square , but not in the middle of it, So it's quite and nice. We tried the breakfast once, I guess it's a little overpriced but OK. The staffs are helpful and nice. Room service was good. Our...

This is hands down my favourite hotel in Amsterdam. They are located within a few minutes walk from both the red light district and the city centre. There is a discrete coffee shop directly opposite the entrance. The beds are amongst the most comfortable in any hotel I've visited in Amsterdam, and while a lot of 5 star hotels try...

Although the stay was relatively adequate, I did not find that it represented my experience based upon previous excellent reviews that ultimately swayed me to choose this hotel. I'll review my Con's first and finish with the Pro's. The location was a bit deceptive. The photos made it look like your view could possibly have a canal view, situated on...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
