I stayed for five nights in this very comfortable and modern hotel in central Amsterdam. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. Service extremely friendly and helpful for a person with difficulties in moving. In the neighborhood there were many excellent restaurants. The conference center opposite the hotel was impressive and beautiful, an ex-church.

While the hotel lacks the historical charm of many hotels in Amsterdam it ticks all my boxes as a business traveller. I stayed for 5 nights while attending a conference in the hotel plus other meetings. Rooms are good and clean, great hair dryer, heaps of room for toiletries, good room service, the food was good for conference room standards...

My guess is that Mr Bill Marriott would think that this property has no right hanging under the Renaissance brand. Rooms are dowdy and small (given the rack rate if €500) and feature such amenities as yellow 'please mind your head' stickers on the unbelievably low parts of the ceiling - above the desk Space where you might conceivably sit...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor concerning your recent stay with us. We were very sorry to learn that you did not like your hotel room and we regret that we obviously were not able to offer you a move to one of our larger room. Please accept our apologies for the inconveniences you encountered. If...

The lobby and common areas are beautiful. I must add that I am biased and generally pick the Marriott brand. The rooms are decent size, comfortable, and the staff is helpful and accommodating. Just outside and down a short alleyway and you are in the middle of action in the Damrak area. There was construction on the roads and the...

This hotel is corporate expensive (we are talking €330+ a night) in the heart of Amsterdam's red light and dope streets. Turn right and you are straight into the detritus of last night's binge. Turn left and you can walk a pleasant canal. Hundreds of rooms with not a soul or emotion in sight. Breakfast was €26 each; international bun...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor. We very much regret that recent stay with us was not entirely to your satisfaction. Our room rates and breakfast rates are comparable to the other metropolitan hotels here in Amsterdam and depending on the season we often have very attractive package deals availalbe. Your points of concern will be...

We were here for a four night stay in Amsterdam. The hotel has all you'd expect for a Marriott brand. Unlike most European hotels, you will get wash cloths, so no need to pack that for here. There's also a club lounge open all day for those who have access (alcoholic drinks are only beer & wine served from 5:30...

We really enjoyed our 9 day stay at this hotel. It is not a perfect hotel, but the staff in the club lounge (on the 1st floor, not the ground floor) and at the "navigator" desk were so helpful, that it made up for other problems. It is so nicely located, i.e. near the train station, trams, bike rentals, and...

I was kept locked out everyday due to the hotel's computer system kept telling me to check out, although I booked for 3 nights. The hotel is located in the city center and very convenient for a tourist, although the room is very small. The bed is too soft and pillow is not real comfortable.

I just spent three nights at the Renaissance while showing the kids Amsterdam. We stayed in a deluxe room and had an extra roller bed put in. The hotel is very well located. It is less than a five minute walk from the central train station making a trip from the airport cheap, fast and easy. It is near a...

Pitched at a level above the workman-like Marriott property this one is a bit of a let down. Terrific location near to station and walking distance to all the tourist sites. Hotel itself is attractive on first appearance but as per other reviews it actually literally smells bad in all the common areas. The restaurant/bar is like something from the...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
