Stayed here in Nov for a business trip. The location is fantastic. Best restaurants and attractions are all within walking distance. Bed was very comfortable and although the rooms were smaller than most US hotels it was cozy and comfortable.

Wonderful place for a family vacation. Centrally located, service is superb, rooms are clean and luxurious. A short walk to restaurants, parks, shopping and other tourist attractions, as well as local favorites.
I had never been to Amsterdam and was unsure if I was choosing a hotel in the right location or the best way to get to it from Schipol. The hotel staff emailed me directions and it was so easy. I caught the train straight...More
This hotel is simply amazing. It’s in the near of Amsterdam so you can walk to almost everything. The rooms are large for European hotels. The staff is friendly and the concierge is awesome. He never steered us wrong on a recommendation and was able...More
Excellent location, and friendly staff. This hotel is a 4 star price, but more 3 star facility. Bed was terribly soft (worn out), shower head leaked and for those that are tall note (at least on the 4th floor) that the ceilings are very low....More

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring
hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Sorry, I also don't know the difference between those two room types. The hotel was full when we arrived and while we didn't get an upgrade consistent with Marriott status, we got a nice quiet room promptly and liked it.
