The Hoxton in Amsterdam garners applause for its unique and welcoming atmosphere, with a chic and cozy decor that guests find charming. While service is generally seen as friendly and attentive, some guests have faced slow responses.
The rooms are appreciated for their views and decor, yet some find them small and noisy, with maintenance issues noted. Despite the hotel's cleanliness and central location earning high marks, the value proposition is questioned, with critiques centered on room size and amenity shortcomings.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. We splurged and went for a canal view and did not regret it at all. We arrived by train and it was a 10+ minute walk from Central Station to the hotel. The walk wasn't as easy with roll away carry on luggage as the sidewalks in Amsterdam are much more narrow compared to Paris or London, and dealing with the amount of bicyclists, therefore I recommend a taxi from the station to hotel if you have carry-on luggage. Upon entering the room, we saw decorative balloons and a complimentary bottle of champagne for our anniversary! We were blown away by this kind gesture. Our first dinner we had at the hotel restaurant and it was delicious. I also had the best frosé there. The location is convenient to many tourist attractions as we were able to walk to the Anne Frank House, Heineken, and the museums. The hotel even provide bikes free of charge for leisure rides. One of our favorite features of the hotel was the "le petit breakfast" bags brought to you every morning. We couldn't recommend this hotel more and would definitely stay here again.

The Hoxton had some of the best service I have ever received at a hotel. Each day we received a breakfast snack outside our door and when we came back from the day our room was always clean, with the radio playing. It was such a vibe! I am so happy we choose to stay here because it was such a fun environment. We always wanted to hangout by the bar or lounge on the couches in the lobby. I highly recommend staying here whether you’re with the family, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, friends, or business! 5 out of 5! I love The Hoxton

My partner and I visited Amsterdam from London for the weekend and we absolutely loved the vibe in the Hotel and the fact that the lobby and restaurant is always buzzing with people. The attitude and service from the staff was seamless also and the location PERFECT for everything central.
Our room was beautiful overlooking the canal and the bath tub in the "roomy" room was heavenly after coming in from the cold!
Little heads up (literally) if you are tall like me, I had to keep my head down a few times to avoid hitting my head on some of the lower beams in the room which is part of the charm I guess!
Our flights home to London were cancelled due to the latest storm (thanks Dennis) and after a hellish ordeal at the airport we decided to come back to the Hotel for an extra night before returning to the airport. The front desk team welcomed us back and offered us a great rate for the night and the experience completely lifted my mood again.
They offer beers & wine at reception at supermarket prices so basically I think this Hotel is run by a bunch of legends.
Thanks for our stay - we had the best time and we will be back.

He there, Thank you for reviewing. What a great read, putting a smile on all our faces! Thank you for sharing these kind words about the hotel and our team. It was a pleasure having you around and being able to welcome you back so soon, even when it wasn't planned that way ;-). Also very glad to know you enjoyed our Hox Shop / minibar concept and liked your room too. Some of our rooms have slightly lower ceilings indeed, only so that other rooms have super high ceilings though! So hit us up for the next time (dutymanageramsterdam@thehox.com) so we can make sure to allocate you one of those! Hope that'll be soon, x the Hox

Stayed for 4 nights recently. Hotel is in a great location. We had 2 main problems. On booking we specifically asked for a quiet room away from street noise to ensure we got a good nights sleep. On arrival at the hotel we were given a room on the first floor facing the street which was the exact opposite of what we had requested. We asked if it was possible to have another room which was quiet and away from street noise, and were offered a room on the 5th floor. However this room was much smaller, the furniture was damaged (not shabby chic/industrial) and there was a terrible smell from the drains. No other room was available so we had to stay in the original room for the 4 nights. At night there was noise from cars and motor bikes passing by within a few feet of us, and in the early morning we were woken by cars, motor bikes, delivery vans and refuse collection vehicles. Needless to say we did not sleep at all well during our stay.
The second problem was poor service at breakfast. Hot food was often served lukewarm/cold. Staff rarely wrote down the food order and invariably forgot to bring something or brought the wrong thing. Tea was served without milk or sugar, no teaspoon. When we asked for milk, hot milk was served. Staff were very friendly but seemed to lack proper training.
This is a hip and trendy hotel but it’s not cheap, and the standard of service really needs to be improved.
We did tell a manager about these problems when we were checking out. To be fair she was very apologetic and gave us a discount off our bill which we appreciated. It still didn’t make up for 4 sleepless nights though.

Hey there, thank you for taking the time to review. I'm so sorry to read that your stay with us did not live up to your expectations and that we did not have an alternative canal view room available on a high floor in your category when you requested to move. Also dissapointing to hear that the breakfast service was not up to standard. Although you were compensated for the inconvenience caused, it would still be great if we were able to turn around your experience. When you are concidering a return trip to Amsterdam, please do not hesitate to contact me directly in order for me to personally make the arrangements and overlook you stay. Regards, Jeroen

We stayed in a "Cosy" room which had plenty of room for both of us and the two suitcases/bags we each brought with us, and was clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly at check-in and check-out and our room was ready for us when we arrived (around 11 am) as we had an early flight in from the US. We also really enjoyed the breakfast bags (yogurt, banana, juice) each morning. The hotel is perfectly located in a quiet area of town and is a quick 5-10 minute walk to the Anne Frank House, Dam Square and many tram lines which can take you throughout the city.

Loved it. We felt super safe and looked after. Lunch and dinner were delivered to the room and arrived well packaged, and plates & cutlery with it. Definitely coming back, either for another weekend getaway or for Lotti's when indoor dining is available again.

I stayed at the Hoxton for 2 days for a mini-honeymoon with my husband (we live in Amsterdam so we just wanted to get away for our wedding night) and we had a wonderful experience. The room we stayed in was super cool and funky, the hotel itself is in a great location and the breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend the Hoxton and stay there again.

This is a charming hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious with a canal view. The room has a mini fridge and the hotel supplies you with water daily and fresh milk for your coffee or tea. I loved exploring the area around the hotel as the 9 Streets are basically right outside the door. It is a 5 minute walk to the Anne Frank haus and 10 minute walk to Centraal Station. The hotel restaurant is excellent. .

I don't know what possessed me to book this place. It's not worth of its hefty price tag.
1. No housekeeping. No housekeeping?! Yes, no housekeeping. How can that be???? you have to request for housekeeping at the front desk. They claim they are short if manpower. But look, daily housekeeping is a basic thing for hotels and that huge price tag apparently isn't enough for daily housekeeping.
2. Lacking the finer details. No little toiletries like ear buds, cotton pads, etc. This doesn't feel like a luxury hotel at all.
Hairdryer was found to be burnt. And housekeeping didn't check. Left to the guests to find out and ask for a change.
3. Noisy heater. Turned it on and it clunked and coughed through the night. I'd think that heater would be a very basic thing to get right at the start of a long winter.
4. Reception was friendly but the restaurant right beside it is one kind of noisy. Some like the energy there. I think it's somewhat hip but the noise never stops.
5. The Bed is awfully soft. So were the pillows. No pillow choices here.
The front desk was nice, always helpful. Bouncer at the door every night checking on the incoming crowd. Good water pressure. Two bottles of water a carton of free milk hardly makes up for all its lacks.
If you like hip, energetic crowded spaces, this is for you. But if you prefer classic comfortable four star hotel luxury with daily housekeeping, don't come here. You'd surely find a better place down the road. I won't be back.

I always stay at the Hoxton in Amsterdam because the location is great, the hotel is so cool (I'd like my entire house to be decorated like the Hoxton), the rooms are very comfortable, and I love the handy to go breakfast bags. This trip, my appreciation for the Hoxton grew as it was my first long business trip as a new mom, and they were so helpful and supportive as I navigated all the logistics of pumping, storing and transporting breastmilk back home. I'm so grateful to the staff who were so accommodating and went above and beyond.

Hi. Sorry I just saw this and i don't have a clue about any Photo Booth.
We had a huge biggie with one mattress- but maybe you ask the hotel: they are helpful and accommodating! It would have worked for my family back in the days when our daughter was small.
Hi there, yes we do have 2 lifts!
Hi! We parked close to the train station, which costs around 20€ for 24hrs.
Hi there,
It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk to the hotel, depending on how much luggage you have.
