This is a wonderful place to stay for cultural travellers - close to the Concertgebouw and the Museumplein, and with pleasant cafes and restaurants nearby. It's like staying in an apartment on the Left Bank in Paris. This is a residential area, so quiet and leafy yet within easy walking distance of some of the finest museums. It's also on... More

We were in the Rembrandt room which was just lovely. The decor was spotless and lots of attention to detail everywhere. The service was very friendly indeed.Breakfast was beautiful and presented with a real flair and homely quality. This location is a nice part of Amsterdam ,slightly out but very near the Ryksmuseum which is perfect.Highly recommended.

great location, right on the #2 tram that runs straight through the city to all the highlights. In a very upscale neighbourhood where we were able to get frsh fruits and veggies to eat and store in our room. We had the largest room the vermeer suite and it was great. The bathroom is uber modern and a bit out... More

The staff was extremely accomodating before as well as during our stay. We stayed in the Rembrandt Suite which is very spacious and elegantly decorated. It is on the street but the noise level was not a problem. Breakfast was very good. We would highly recommend staying here. Great neighborhood and close to VanGogh Museum & Rijksmuseum.

We stayed 3 nights in the Van Gogh Suite. The terrace is great, breakfast was served either in the nice breakfast room or on the terrace. Coffee and tea maker in the room. Quiet residential neighbourhood, 5 minutes walking distance from the museums, restaurants and park nearby. Will definitely go back. Not suitable for travellers unable or unwilling to climb... More

We stayed in the Rembrand suite and, unlike previous reviewers, we did not have any noise issues. The staff is very welcoming, warm and helpful; the room, very charming. Breakfast is good value for money and we only had to share the table one day with other guests. We were planning quite some museum visits so the location was simply... More

We stayed in the beautiful Vermeer Suite on the top floor. The location was excellent! It is an easy tram ride to museums and other places of interest, there is an abundance of good restaurants in the surrounding streets, and the extensive Vonderpark is just around the corner. Frieda was very hospitable and helpful, giving us an orientation to Amsterdam... More

We stayed in the Rembrandt Room - which is very nice. It was a large a large room and also very clean - you probably could have eaten your breakfast off the floor in the room itself or the bathroom if you had ordered breakfast in the room. The service was very friendly and helpful. We arrived a bit before... More

I will try to be fair. It was very very nice that we were allowed to check in early after flying from US. Staff was very kind and helpful. We opted to get breakfast on our own each morning. Our room (Rembrandt) was lovely and bed was extremely comfortable. Problem (and a big one at that) was the noise level,... More

Dear Guest, With this reply we would like to take the opportunity to tell you that we feel terrible sorry that you have had a bad experience in our hotel due to noise. We was warmly greeted by Frieda, she gave us a map of Amsterdam and answered our questions on how to get around, directions to where we wanted to go etc, she then showed us to our room which was the Mondrian suite. The suite was very clean, light and a nice size. Everything you needed was in there and also the... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
