It's our first trip to Amsterdam and weren't disappointed staying at Kuwadro. Johnny and Goran are cheerful and excellent hosts. We were met by Goran upon arrival and gave us a much needed coffee while explaining what to do for a 2 nights' stay in the city. We met Johnny later on the second evening and had a great chat!... Johnny and Goran very helpful and friendly. Clean and trendy place. Plenty of room in bedroom. Internet connection helpful for booking return flight. Excellently located for traveling around Amsterdam. Stairs very steep, so great care must be exercised when going up and down. Pub next door does not shut till late and there is a pedestrian walkway below room, so... More

Goran and Johnny were graciously hands-on as hosts to to us. A few days before we were set to arrive in Amsterdam, they had been constantly contacting us to make sure every little tidbit of our trip was going well. And so when we got to Amsterdam and were navigating our way to Kuwadro, they were like close relatives that... More

There was 3 flights of steep stairs to reach the B&B - we were told about this when we made the booking so we knew what to expect. We did receive some help with our luggage though so that was good! There are 2 rooms in total in the B&B with a shared toilet and bathroom (separate to each other).... More

Great location just at the beginning of the RedLight district, beautiful modern decor and any amenities you could need. Wonderful breakfast foods provided and delicious modern coffee machine. Host was kind and helpful about good places in the area. Over all success, can't wait to go back

We prefer to stay away from the commercial hotels as much as possible and Kuwadro allowed us to do that in the heart of Amsterdam's old town. Johnny and Goran were excellent hosts and took the time to answer all our questions on what we should do, see and eat in our 36 hours in town. Goran's recommendations of the... More

Pros 1. Big bed and rooms. 2. Daily housekeeping by owner Johnny. Impressed by the slight details he put into. 3. Fridge stocked up with plenty of food and drinks. Nespresso capsule, bread, cereals and even chocolates. You never feel hungry here. 4. Owner makes an effort to prepare your breakfast for the next day. 5. Clean and spotless. 6.... More

the place is kinda small and you have to walk up three floors of some scary stairs, but its still a great place. goran's an artist and the apartment's layout definitely reflects it. two things are awesome about this place: 1. the location is right in dam square, chinatown, and the red light district. there's "coffee" shops right downstairs, a... Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
