The Posthoorn is a gem. My mom and I stayed at the Posthoorn during our recent trip to Amsterdam and I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience. It is located in a nice, non-touristy area with a lot of options for restaurants, shopping, and drinks. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and private. As so many others have noted,...

We traveled to Amsterdam a few days before our cruise was to start and my friend found this B & B so she and her husband reserved one room and my husband and I had another. It was such a lovely surprise. The owner, Francois, was just amazing. He welcomed us in and helped us find our way around. He...

We (couple of brazilian 31 and 42 years old) chose Poosthorn after searching on the internet a good place to stay in Amsterdam. It is just the best option we could have chosen. We felt like a local, the house is great, the room is wonderful, well furnished, clean and the owner Francois ( a french guy who lives in...

The Posthoorn is an amazing choice for your stay in Amsterdam. We are big travelers and this one rated very high in comparison for many reasons: Its location is amazing, 10 minutes walk from the train station, right on a canal, in the middle of a very trendy area with many options for drinks, cafes, restaurant and shopping, and finally...

We stayed at The Posthoorn in early March (we're a bit late with this review) for a long weekend. It's a wonderful place to stay, as other reviewers have already said, because of its character and amenities, because of the location, and because Francois, the owner, is an extremely friendly and attentive host. We stayed in the canal view room,...

We had a 4 country tour of Europe ending in Amsterdam. We stayed in 2 AirBNB's 1 hotel and the Posthoorn. The Posthoorn was our favorite. Only 3 bedrooms, so book in advance. The room we booked known as "patio" is easily 4 star, and the most comfortable bed we slept in during our 2 weeks. Located in the Jordaan...

This fine bed and breakfast has only three rooms. When our Amsterdam apartment rental fell through we were lucky to get a booking for five nights. Our room was billed as ground floor, although we had to walk up about four steps. We faced Prinsengracht and a canal; special shades prevented people from looking into our room. The room was...

Francois, our host, was a delight. His welcome and orientation chat complete with map was wonderful. Lovely room with an enormous bed with great quality linen, swish bathroom with heated floor. Our room was at the back with a little outside verandah, complete with table and chairs - access to it was via a window - delightful. Very pleasant for...

The Posthoorn is a tiny 3 bedroomed hotel, more of a bed and breakfast really. We stayed in the Patio room which is at the back. It was decorated to a very high standard, with a huge comfortable bed and very lovely linens. The hotel itself is in a great position right on the beautiful canals, very quite but very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water. Full continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants is served to guests in their room each morning. Staff aim to make guests' stay at the Posthoorn memorable. ... more   less
